I have a 486 that can be switched between two CPU clock speeds, 25 and 33 MHz. I have R03.00.02 and it will only read and write at the 25Mhz clock speed. I get an error if I try it at 33 MHz. See if you can lower your clock speed at the keyboard, or by changing a BIOS setting.

I just got one of these from eBay and it came with the AC power cable. The internal power supply induces a hum/buzz onto the FM audio when I transmit.

Well, I found out that no personality on a Systems Saber may be slaved to clear like it can on a Saber. I did disable proper code detect and noticed no improvement. I will learn to live with it too I suppose.

This is good news! I have not determined the CON version yet (no RSS) and I remembered something vague about how the presence of the 'beep' indicated a later CON version.

Can the RAT buttons or front keypad be programmed to change the power setting of the current personality or zone?

Is there a menu selection to accomplish this? (I doubt)

The 8250 UART chip is also suitable. From a MS-DOS 6.22 command prompt type 'MSD' to start a DOS program (Microsoft Diagnostics) and go to the ports section to see what UART chip your serial port has.

I haven't a clue as to your first step with the CDM1250. On the MT1000 however, you may try toggling the RX Injection using the RSS. When you are in the Change/Create/View--> Channel screen, it is F9. IIRC this affects the Injection from the second local oscillator stage.

KVLs are available on eBay, just search for things like DES, KVL and keyloader. The RIB is not inteded nor designed to keyfill. Never had that one before... perhaps the software is fussy. Run it is pure DOS if it is not already. Try some other codeplugs to see if it is a codeplug archive problem or a software bug. MT2000, MTS2000, and MTX9000 will also work.

I gather from your post that you are getting a 'Codeplug to new/old' error upon reading the B5 codeplug.

One way to circumvent this would be to use the lab to read/write without 'unpacking' the codeplug into archive format. Then use a newer non-lab version of MTSX that can then edit the contents ...

I see MTX8000 B3 models for sale with this model number an awful lot: H01UCC 6 DB3AN. The 6 in position 7 indicates a channel spacing of 20/25KHz. Does this mean I cannot program the radio to follow a trunked system with a frequency of, say 856.7125 MHz??

All I need is a Type II capable MTX8000 ...
