Re: NTN1177 charger

Just a word of warning on the 1177 chargers, the older ones at least use Astec Power supplies which I've seen problems reported with on Batlabs and I had one go up in smoke as well so if you're going to use them keep a watch on them while charging. Chinese batteries ? Also a cautionary word, I had t...

Re: Just Bought a MaxTrac, confused about plug and internal chip.

Looks like an add on board, with the M branded IC it could be a QCII decode board or could be an aftermarket board that just happens to use a Moto IC. If the radio was set up for ignition sense, yes you need to apply power to a pin on the 16 pin connector, the pinout is shown on the Main Batlabs site.

Thanks guys. The batteries I had left showed about 4.5 standing volts. Re: NMO center tab size question

I recall with OEM Motorola mounts there was a removable washer that was supposed to be removed when used at the lowest of the spec'd. VHF splits which was the Air band, perhaps this would apply to the 6m, 11m antenna's as well ? Sounds like they should be checked one at a time to rule out interaction.

UHF different ?

Yup, MX300 series battery. Still have a couple going that are 16 years old but still hold a charge in the area of 70% YMMV. The KVL's have a small power drawer and I've heard of folks running them on common 9V batteries but never had the need to try.
