Adding ignition sense to non ignition sense capable radio ?
Hi all, I've been running all M branded mobile radios for last 20 years and they all came equipped for ignition sense so no problem. Now I'm looking to add a amateur 2m radio that I'd also like to follow ignition sense but I'm only working with B+ and B- leads. I was thinking of running the constant...

Re: Perplexed by Date code newer M accessories
Yup, 'Made in Malysia' on the box. I was thinking 2013 as '13' appeared in both codes but RF makes points closer to what M has used in the past so 2011 looks like it. Used to be much simpler with same format on acc's/ Batteries.
Thanks guys.
Thanks guys.

Happy New Year !
I have a few Motorola Speaker Mics NIB (or NOS) coded 1386-MAL2 anyone have a clue on the date coding ? I don't think the model was available in 1986. Could it be 2013 8th month 2nd day or something similar ?

Just a word of warning on the 1177 chargers, the older ones at least use Astec Power supplies which I've seen problems reported with on Batlabs and I had one go up in smoke as well so if you're going to use them keep a watch on them while charging. Looks like an add on board, with the M branded IC it could be a QCII decode board or could be an aftermarket board that just happens to use a Moto IC. If the radio was set up for ignition sense, yes you need to apply power to a pin on the 16 pin connector, the pinout is shown on the Main Batlabs site.

I recall with OEM Motorola mounts there was a removable washer that was supposed to be removed when used at the lowest of the spec'd. VHF splits which was the Air band, perhaps this would apply to the 6m, 11m antenna's as well ? Sounds like they should be checked one at a time to rule out interaction.
