Re: ADP error ?

have ADP on a 2nd system works fine but no yellow LED on Enc RX like my 6000 By default, the LED will flash yellow on conventional secure receive only. If you want to see the LED flash on secure receive in trunking mode, there is a checkbox that will enable this in the trunking system configuration...

ADP definitely won't work in analog. Only DES-XL will work in that mode.

Re: ADP error ?

Is this on a trunking system? Sounds like your system manager may have set that talkgroup ID or your radio ID for clear TX only.

Re: APX8000XE Battery Drain

I have observed the same thing. My APX7000 can go for days. I began using an APX8000 about a year ago. It can kill a battery in 8 hours easily. Another concern for me is that the APX8000 always seems warm to the touch after it has been running for a few hours. I can leave it sitting on a conventiona...

Re: APX CPS R07.00.00

R7 host/dsp was posted on MOL last night. I'm loving the ability to have 10 preset keys for various talkgroups. Really handy. Haven't used it enough to observe much else yet. Once you upgrade to R7 read and write times to the radio are ridiculously fast from the CPS.

Re: APX CPS R07.00.00

I can say one positive thing about CPS R07 so far. I installed it last night. My codeplug with 1800+ channels now opens in less than a minute. In previous versions it would take over ONE HOUR just to load. Never mind the lag while making changes to the codeplug itself.

SWEET!

Re: APX Mobile & Portable Firmware R06.05.05 Released

Thanks for the clarification, Scott. I would definitely recommend trying out the conventional scan list approach with TX inhibit. I find that Elroy's trick works extremely well. And I suspect that this will still work. It's fairly well documented in a number of other threads. Back to the R06.05.05 d...

Also, it appears the trick of receiving P25 systems without affiliating disappeared sometime between here & R06.00.00... :( Scott, Just to clarify - are you referring to scanning via scan list while sitting on a conventional channel - OR - actually sitting on the trunked system using TX inhibit...

Re: APX 7000

Hello,

I have a VHF / 700 / 800 APX with the software system key option. I just tried it out, and I can definitely add talkgroups up to 4 digits in HEX. Running the latest firmware (R06.05.05) and latest CPS (R06.01.00)

Re: APX Mobile & Portable Firmware R06.00.00 Released

I'm personally not going to read very much into the inclusion of that FlashPort pdf document. First, that document was copyright 2009. Second, it doesn't mention anything about regular firmware uplifts. It simply documents the process of using an iButton upgrade the FlashPort options in the radio. I...

Would it be possible for someone to tell us about the internal points they have used to get a digital COR signal? It would be very helpful when trying to interface mobiles to external devices.

Thanks,

I just thought of another way that you can do this. Not sure why I didn't think of this sooner. It is possible to program the radio to have a single talkgroup with "priority 1" status. You can set the radio to treat the talkgroup as priority 1 even when it is in the middle of another call....

Hey there, EDACS does have a way of handling "announcement" talkgroups. When an EDACS system is designed, they select the layout of the fleets and subfleets. Each subfleet actually has a talkgroup that acts as a broadcast talkgroup. Any radio tuned into that particular fleet automatically ...

Hi Rob, Hopefully this information helps you out. Supposedly if you can't READ the radio, you can still WRITE to it with an older version. So, if you have a new codeplug made up from scratch in your version of ProGrammer, you can just write it directly into the radio. Of course this may not help you...

Ok, here is another question that is related to the original topic of "Monitoring Responsibly". With a VHF or UHF radio, you obviously have to set the Base/Offset information in order for trunking to work. I know there is a spot to set RX and TX ranges. Now, what happens if you properly se...
