Re: Is the CP200 Appropriate for Public Safety?
Wow; I'm trying to reflect on where I was in my life almost twelve years ago when I left my pithy comment for this thread. Well, a PD I once worked at used two-channel GP350's. We beat the crap out of them and they never had any issues. No speaker/mics or fancy holsters. A couple guys used some of t...

Lol thats why we're moving to the Swissphone product. I personally have used a Swissphone for at least four if not five years and they work great. The receive is par with the Min II's and they are very tough. In fact, my original RE529 Swissphone is still in service; now held by "the new guy&qu...

History of the Minitor II --- Does anyone know dates?
I'm trying to gather up information for a proposal to phase out our Minitor II's. I can't keep up with the repairs. Does anyone here know when the Minitor II was initially sold to the public and when it was last sold? Also, when the Minitor II reached End-of-life with Motorola? There are only about ...

I just checked the Eaton UPS management logs. The voltage stays at a constant 122V. The input power slowly fluctuates from 122V to 124V so that looks okay.

My apologies, --- it would usually clear with a hit of the transmit button --- not hitting the "Monitor" button again. So basically, it is not reverting back after hitting the transmit button. I'm running over there right now to get a voltage log form the Eaton rackmount UPS that powers th...

MTR2000: DPL won't reset after pressing Monitor button...
Here is the setup: MTR2000 on VHF with a DPL of 131. It is hooked up to a C200 Tone remote deskset at the radio and a VoIP link to Central Dispatch. It works well. TX's from the deskset just fine. RX's just fine. The problem is odd -- it has never done this before until now. When someone presses the...

I actually got through to Swissphone N.A. and they stated that their wideband pagers in circulation can be changed over for a small fee; around $25. I also heard that the narrowband pagers are working on wideband just fine too.

Whats the bottom line on this? I can't find anything specific on this. Will we have to throw all of our Minitor II's and Swissphones in the trash for narrowband ready ones?

Telex IP-223 VoIP robot voices
The quick and dirty is that we are linked to central dispatch via a Motorola Canopy wireless LAN setup and then utilize Telex's VoIP IP-223 boxes on each end to tx/rx audio to the MTR2000 at our fire station. This was all done in response to 10 years of the frequent failure of the wireline connectio...

MTR2000 Front audio connector (P5601)
I would like to record audio from a MTR2000. What kind of connector is the P5601? I see that I can buy an interface cable from Motorola (01-85180U01) but I don't have time to wait. Is this a modular connector or a special-must-order connector? Would I be better off pulling audio from the wireline? I...

Update: Our wireline's Telecommunications Service Priority (TSP) Program authorization code was designated as a level 05. Re: Wireline to remote public safety tx site always goes down
By all means the cheapest plan would be to just spit fire at AT&T when there is an extended delay in repair and for frequent outages. As kb4mdz was saying; involve the Public Utilities Commission. My goal here is to have a solid path to the remote transceiver. With our allegedly 40-year old wire...

It is a remote tx/rx site powered by a MTR2000. If the wireline goes down, we go down. No one has "lost their life" because of this (under 400 runs a year total run volume) but its starting to get me angry. Some folks have suggested an alarm line that would give notification if the line wa...

We have a transmit/receive site that is connected to central dispatch via wireline. We have had nothing but problems with this setup for at least the past 10 years. Its doesn't have the little shark teeth on the end like a mini-UHF.
Its too small to be a TNC too. I really need to get out there with a caliper and measure this up.

Can someone help me identify this type of connector - it looks like a reverse SMA on steroids. It is just a tad bigger than a SMA. This is a 900Mhz data radio for a Fluke logging device. Half of our units have true SMA connectors and the other half have this odd connector. http://pics.brienware.com/...

The 2100 bar is a great bar. Very bright and comparable to any of the Whelen Liberty series. Your frustration, and others, seem to float around the LED-X modules that are used in some of the 2100 bars. The Optix modules are the ones you need. I have no clue why Code 3 still sells the LED-X modules w...

Does anyone know the part number for an external speaker bracket? Its the same bracket for the square plastic speakers you see with the old Spectras and even the rounded-edge "modern" speakers seen with the MCS's.
