Re: APX8000XE + XE RSM Speaker Mics
That’s really interesting because our guys do take them running or into the gym. I’ve also noticed, the bottom of the cases beginning to corrode as well. The bottom, down towards where it seats against the battery.

Re: APX8000XE + XE RSM Speaker Mics
I understand the proper procedure of keeping the contacts covered when not in use. However, we're talking about a super rugged $7,000 radio being placed in the hands of firefighters. I have radios not even a year old, developing corrosion. In contrast, I personally have 20-year-old MT/HT's, Sabers a...

Re: APX8000XE + XE RSM Speaker Mics
UPDATE: So our dealer sent the radios out to Motorola for repair. The repair notes said that 7 of 12 contacts had corrosion. They did a case swap and the problem has been corrected. However, this problem seems to be rampant across a ton of our radios, even those that don't see IDLH conditions on the...

Re: APX8000XE + XE RSM Speaker Mics
The issue follows the radio, only with the RSM. I can use the radio just fine without the mic. I can even use the radio perfect with the mic attached if I'm just using the radio's PTT. I can hear the audio perfectly through the RSM. However, when I transmit through the RSM, other radios only hear wh...

APX8000XE + XE RSM Speaker Mics
I'm having an issue at my department with a few APX8000XE's and the XE RSM speaker mics we use. Based on the notes others have provided, these are Gen 3 (water drain ports by e-trigger) speaker mics. With a couple of my radios, keying the RSM results in the radio transmitting but the sound is a loud...

Re: APX8000 Antenna options?
I think the issue is the work that antenna has to do. So I know for our APX's, the antenna needs to support VHF, UHF, 7/800, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS. I'm not sure if you can cover all that with the skinny UHF antenna. Now if none of those things concern you, then you probably won't have an issue.

Green XE RSM Issues
Has anybody else had issues with the NNTN8203A Green XE RSM speaker mics? We have them for our APX 8k's and always seem to have issues with low audio, static or no audio transmitted at all. We've swapped mics out with Motorola and the issues seem to always crop up. I'm wondering if it's the mics or ...

Wondering if anybody else has had this issue with their APX's. Our Department recently purchased APX8000XE radios with standard and extended batteries. From our lot of standard batteries, a few of them would display "Wrong Battery" on the radio display and a red battery icon. It would not ...

Re: APX8000
Basically, if you got the radio with all bands enabled, it's around $6,000 not counting any percentage discounts your dealer may be able to apply. It's ridiculously expensive when you consider it's just an HT, but not bad as Moto gear goes. Not quite. The main line on the radio for a model 3.5 is $...

Re: APX8000
All the bands are turned on by default. They then subtract approx $700-$800 per band you don't want. The bands available are 7/800, VHF and UHF R1/2 and they're looking at that as "4 bands." However, you can't just have UHF R1 or R2, it's all or nothing for UHF. Basically, if you got the r...

Re: APX8000
I just received a quote for a couple APX 8000XE's + VHF and UHF bands enabled and it prices around $4,000 after discounts. This puts it +/- few hundred dollars to the dual band APX 7000XE's we had already spec'd out. Granted, GPS and WiFi are extra and not included on this quote. Battery is now incl...

QC-II on a Trunking System?
I have an XTS-5000R Model III with v12 firmware.
Is it possible to have the radio VMUTE or activate for QC-II tones on a trunking talkgroup? I know that you can obviously do it on conventional, but I'm wondering if there is a way to set it up on a trunking personality.
Thanks in advance!

CPS out of date?
So I've been programming my XTS-5000 M3 with CPS version 12.00.00 software. Today, I upgraded my XTS firmware to Host: 12.00.17 / DSP: 12.00.05 and obviously, in true Moto style, my CPS no longer works (trying to read) with this firmware version. Is there anyway around this?
Thanks in advance guys.
