Yes, color code is all you need on the repeater. Talkgroup id's are set on the subscriber. However, on the repeater, set the RSSI to something other than the default or it will never transmit if there is the least bit of interference. -60 should do.

We've got a mix of Gen1 and Gen2 Trbo radios on our system. We would get RX spikes on the Gen2 radios intermittently when a Gen1 radio would key up. Audio was much better when we upgraded everything to the latest fw. If you can just get the Gen1 radios on version 1.12 things should improve.

I don't believe the 5550 has any type of FPP option but you could simply program separate channels for each PL tone.

Almost sounds like they've been remotely disabled. If you know the radio ID number, try sending an 'enable' command to it.

We run IPSC and assign 'One Touch Access' (Home Reverts) to the 'Side button 1' short and long press on our 7550's. So Connect Plus doesn't allow that?

Are they on firmware 1.12.17? There's talk of a bug in that firmware version causing that issue. I've experienced it on some of mine but that's been on a digital channel.

Check the 'Admit Criteria' and 'In Call Criteria' and set them both to 'Always' (You will need to be in 'View-->Expert' mode). Also make sure your 'Contact Name' is populated with a Digital Contact that you created (Group Id).

The scanning works pretty much like a HT1000 setup. If programmed to do so you can add/del scan channels via the menu. Might also look at the RSSI Threshold setting on the repeater. The default can sometimes be close to the existing noise floor and not allow the repeater to transmit.

Josh is correct in that dynamic mixed mode (analog) is not an option when utilizing IP Site Connect. You might try googling "MotoTrbo System Planner". It's a Motorola publication explaining most all the MotoTrbo features.

Only thing similar I have run across is if you have a Trbo radio nearby that is in 'Site Connect' roaming mode and trying to wakeup repeaters in it's channel pool. When it transmits it will possibly desense nearby radios for about that same amount of time.

I use my 4 year old's elastic hair bands. Clip the mic to it and drop the loop over the antenna. I know when my little girl is out of hair bands when I find my mic in the floor.

If you don't have any 'ARS' or data servers running you will want the GPS turned off and the ARS Radio ID and TMS Radio ID empty, and the ARS disabled in the programming of the radio. I would also recommend wavetar's passive antenna suggestion. We use a passive antenna in our ambulances and it works well. Before, portables were useless inside the ambulance but with the passive antenna system they work as if you were outside the truck.

I was able to get a 173 for vehicle repeater use. You have to pay attention to the freq ranges for some of the portable antennas and many of the 1/4 waves on public safety vehicles don't cover that range so you may have to change a few out.

If you are running ARS enabled for anything, you may try disabling that option temporarily and see if it cures the power off problem. You might try disabling "AGC" and adjusting the mic gain up on the XPR4350. You might also try disabling "Noise Supressor"(won't see that setting unless it's running a later firmware version)

I've had errors when trying to use a newer CPS version with an older firmware before. You may need to update the repeater firmware. CPS v7.6 was meant for firmware 1.09.0. The latest repeater firmware for the 8400 is 1.09.11 and the latest CPS is 8.5
