Re: APX-7000 XE ILLEGAL KEY
OK I checked and secure was in the off pos, if I turn it on I still get the origional 6 beeps and illegal key message
one time when I power the radio on but now I also get ILLEGAL KEY flashing every 10 sec or so. secure was programed but I haven't used in a long time so that may be a seperate issue.

XTL5000 03 CH Backlight quit
Hey Guys
I have an XTL 5000 with a 03 CH and the backlight just quit, everything else works fine. I have another 03CH and it works fine in the problem radio. I shook the coil cord with no result. I then removed the coil cord and did a continue check
All appears ok. Any ideas ?
Thanks Jim

Re: Convert XTL 5000 Hi Pwr to 03 head
Not sure what radio you have but mine is a remote mount hi power, it uses a O TYPE TIB , the acc conn is a DB 25 located on the front of the radio. since I first posted I located a pin out and made my own cable. The spk is on pins 25 and 24 and I don't use a sen. lead, instead I set the code plug se...

Convert XTL 5000 Hi Pwr to 03 head
I have an XTL 5000 Hi power remote mount with an 05 head and I want to convert it to an 03 head.
My question is what cable do I need to conn the speaker and ign sense lead?
or I can make my own if someone could tell me what the pin out is on the
DB 25 acc conn.
Any help would be much appreciated

Re: P25 Ham repeater ?
Thanks for your reply. First I have been looking for a good Range 1 VHF quantar for a year with no luck and I have a PM1500 and an XTL 5000 in stock as well as a controller. I know the quality would suffer some, a Quantar's P25 audio is hard to beat But do you think it would be that bad ? I have not...

P25 Ham repeater ?
Our group would like to put up a P25 VHF ham repeater and since a Quantar is out of our reach because of price and Range 1 availability
We were wondering if putting 2 PM1500's or XTL5000's together using a ham repeater controller would work. Or is there another option
Thanks Jim K4AJM
