Re: XTL2500 simply won't passive scan

Make sure also you have CAI Data Registration turned off on your conventional systems. Otherwise it may try to send data out and appears to be trying to affiliate. I have that turned off. The radio does not behave like it is trying to affiliate, just simply passes no audio on a passive trunked mode...

I'll go back through it again and see if I'm missing something... It seems to work flawlessly for some, others it seems to be a major PITA :)

Would rolling back the firmware be an option then? I'm running whatever the most current is.

XTL2500 simply won't passive scan

Anyone else have issues getting an XTL2500 to passive scan? Scan works fine conventionally on the site (digital CSQ) in question but attempting to scan using the hidden talkgroup method is no dice. I've seen a couple posts on here that either confirmed or denied the XTL2500 could successfully scan w...

Best dual band (single or pair of radios) option with remote head for $300-350

Cross posted - New to us 06 Jeep Grand Cherokee, so far proving to be a major PITA to upfit. This is technically a third vehicle for us (I have a take home fleet vehicle) so I'm not looking to spend a ton on it. I'm looking for, at a bare minimum: 144-174 & 430-470 coverage Remote heads Analog c...

Re: XPR4550 UHF remote "hum on transmit 1-1.5 seconds"

Test day 3... Pulled radio to PTT using rear accessory connector (Pin 17 PTT to Pin 16 Ground) and the noise is gone. Key up with hand mic and the buzz is back. Key back up with rear connector and the noise is gone. Remain keyed up with rear PTT and key up and mic, the buzz is present until the hand...

Re: XPR4550 UHF remote "hum on transmit 1-1.5 seconds"

Another update - Placed radio in RF Test Mode and ran through the channels, with the hand mic, keys up perfectly with no audio distortions. Switched back in to the standard codeplug mode and still hearing the distortions. Reverted back to a codeplug from December and still has the big bold audio hum...

Took the radio out of the vehicle entirely, converted back to dash mount, bench power supply and different antenna, same buzz on transmit.

XPR4550 UHF remote "hum on transmit 1-1.5 seconds"

Dash mount radio worked great as a bench radio. Installed in vehicle, remoted with PMLN5404A kit and 5 meter cable. On analog wide band ham modes, awful hum/buzz on transmit for the first 1-1.5 seconds before it levels out to regular audio. Tried moving to a separate Astron power supply to bypass th...

02 Chevrolet Trailblazer XPR/XTL Install

Had some spare time yesterday while off so I installed an XPR4550 and XTL5000 W3. Cramped console, remoted the XPR and used a Panavise bracket for the HHCH. Antennas are VHF Maxrad wide band and UHF Comtelco 5/8 wave. Couldn't find my 3/4" step bit otherwise they would have been in the roof. Al...

Re: IWCE 2015 in Las Vegas - March 16-20

You guys that are going will have to be the eyes and ears for those of us that can't go. Be sure to stop by Motorola and look at the new APX8000 V-U-7-800. Since it's the same size as a 6000 you would have to believe that it only has one RF board, not two like the 7000. That pretty much has to mean...

Re: Will a 403-470 split MCS2000 go out of band to 395 MHz?

I would wager that it probably will. I've been able to get 450-520MHz MCS 2000's down to 438MHz in the past, and 403-470MHz MCS 2000's up to 480MHz. It will require a hex edit of the CPS to allow it to happen, but it should be able to do it. Firmware doesn't really have anything to do with it beyon...

Will a 403-470 split MCS2000 go out of band to 395 MHz?

I searched throughout the site and a couple others but wasn't able to find an answer as far as going out of band lower than the split, everyone seemed to want to go higher than the split. I have a 403-470 MCS2000 that I'd like to program a handful of interop channels in the 395 MHz range. Is this to...

I have on my bench a UHF XTL5000 with a waterproof W4 control head. There is no Spectra style mic connector on the face of the control head - the microphone is connected to a DB9 pigtail that comes off of the back of the control head cable. Cable television/telephone/broadband provider. All of our telemetry is DOCSIS based on our plant... Scada usage would probably be limited to status reporting and site security alarms.

Motorola XPR8400 50W VHF $1820.00

That's what I was afraid of... With that being said, do the Vertex DMR mobiles operate correctly on a Motorola IPSC repeater, i.e. linking works regardless of whether it's a Vertex to Motorola to Hytera conversation? Also - the PP slide show I looked at mentioned 2011 Q2 the availability of a digita...

Vertex & IP Site Connect; Telephone Interconnect

Looking at going the MotoTRBO route for a utility here covering about 4500 square miles from two mountain tops (RF plots look good) using VHF. We've considered iDAS but the additional work to connect the two sites kinda negates the price advantage, as does the lack of off the shelf software and the ...
