Re: 2011 Ford F150 Crew Cab antenna install
Forgot to take pictures while I was working, but I discovered that the Supercab does NOT have that channel running down the middle. If you follow the "rib" to where it goes flat, it comes out about a foot forward of the rear dome light, so you can just reach up and pull it back. My mountin...

Re: Astro Spectra Install Questions
Thanks for all the various opinions, guys. I'll probably just do a crimp mini-UHF then and use Jim's trick to solder the center pin. However, the HKN9557 cable looks handy for testing / temporary setups. I was very wary of the ones linked by RFguy. I was just picturing that thing acting like a lever...

Astro Spectra Install Questions
Hey all, I have a VHF 110w W3 Astro Spectra that I'm going to be installing in my 2012 F150. I have experience with mobile installs of ham equipment, but I had a few concerns specific to the install of this radio. First off, I'm looking for the hang-up box for the W3 head. I can't post this in the F...

Re: 2011 Ford F150 Crew Cab antenna install
Thanks for the pictures, looks like a nice install. My only concern would be if that would be secure enough for the extra weight of my radio (10-ish pounds?).. although the mounting plate has room for 5 screws, so I might be able to make it work. I'll have to pull the seats and see what's behind the...

Re: 2011 Ford F150 Crew Cab antenna install
Do you have any pictures of how you mounted the drawer? I just got a 2012 FX4 Supercab, and I'm trying to come up with a good place to mount the deck for an Astro Spectra. I have everything else decided (cable routing, HHCH location, etc), but I want to make sure that the radio is securely mounted.

Re: Astro Spectra Information?
Oh, gotcha, thanks. That didn't click with me since the Astro page calls it "feature set" vs. "control type" on the regular Spectra article. Appreciate the response.

Astro Spectra Information?
I recently picked up a a high power Astro Spectra drawer (model T04KLF9PW4AN) that's currently in the mail to me. It was sold by the seller with no information on it's history and no accessories. If I'm reading the Astro article on here correctly, there's no way to find out the proper head from the ...
