After doing some more reading, i found the process that describes what i think you're telling me to do. Only problem is, theres no pics, and im not famaliar with the parts they're talking about. I dont have an issue with soldering inside of this radio, im just not clear on what and where to solder.....

Thanks for the replies. The shoulder speaker/mic make no difference. Yes, its a UHF. After clicking on your link, and seeing a new microphone kit could be the fix, i decided to swap that part with the one in my other jt1000, and it didnt make a difference
