Re: Radio Shack Closing - Remaining Electronic Parts Sources?
A couple of weeks ago, I asked the people in a local store about the ultimate fate of Radio Shack this time around, and was told that they weren't 100% certain, but almost sure that this is the end of Radio Shack. Of course, they may have been misinformed.

Re: Motorola Solutions sues Hytera Communications for using stolen patents, trade secrets
Motorola thinks that it owns VOX, DTP and LBS implemented in Trbo radios? I would take that part of the case. The lawsuit also alleges that Hytera radios have no substantial noninfringing use. Well, how about analog? Anyway, my opinions aside, this is one to watch. You have to look at it a bit broa...

Re: Whats the point of buying a 110w radio?
Try a huge, mostly rural county, with lots of trees and slightly rolling terrain. One (somewhat) central area with repeaters for SO, county fire, EMS, etc. Luckily, we have voters on most of the radio systems in the county now, but the high-power radios were needed in the past. Also, we work mutual ...

Why not just use vRCH? You would have to run separate audio cables for mike and speaker audio (or else make up a VoIP system for it), but the actual control of the radio is handled by the vRCH software.

I know that they made the little "extensions" to allow mounting a DEK above a control head, and I'm almost positive that I've seen a longer version, that may be for stacking heads. I have also seen longer brackets, that allow the DEK over control head mounting option without the "exte...

There is currently an Astro Spectra listed on Ebay, that has no flashcode on the radio's label. The model number does indicate it to be an Astro. Is there anywhere else on the radio's case that the flashcode might be located? If not, is there a "test mode" in the Astros that I could possib...

3/4" 75 Ohm CATV hardline is usually cheaper than the standard 50 Ohm hardline we use for radio comms, but will perform almost as well. You may even be able to find a CATV provider local to you that is selling out (quite a few smaller carriers are being ran out of business by the "big boys...

No dice with the bypass resistor. Tried a few values from 100k all the way down to 1k, which will make the CB squeal on transmit, with no noticeable change in the pop. Shouldn't be too hard to put a new DB25 on the cable you already cut up. The other cable you have should be usable as a programming cable. You'll just have to cut off the male DB25 on the end, ring out the wires to see which pin in the "T" goes to which wire, then put a female DB25 on it.
