XTS3000 Will Not Bootstrap - Cable Issue?
I am trying to upgrade firmware in a pair of XTS3000's using a completely OEM setup (SRIB, cables, USB flashkey). When I start the upgrade it gets to bootstrapping the radio, asks me to turn the radio off and on, click ok, then it errors out and says it could not bootstrap the radio check all cables...

Re: Help with Network Radio Programmer
I switched computers to one that had a fresh install of XP SP3. That solved the first error message I was getting - NRP would open and start 'listening'. Also that showed that the problem was not in the router configuration. However, NRP would initially communicate with the radio and begin 'listenin...

I am trying to get Network Radio Programmer to work and so far no luck. Early Astro firmware and DES-OFB module
I have what appears to be a DES-XL/OFB module by p/n (NTN1564) but I wanted to confirm that by installing it and reading it in test mode. However, the only Astro Saber I have available is an early firmware (thanks to needing VSELP around here...) and in test mode it reads KG1 DES-XL and KG2 UNKNOWN....

APX7000 Expansion Board & Encryption
Where does the encryption algorithms physically reside in the APX7000? In the 'expansion board'? The main speaker is connected through the expansion board so it does not operate without it. Also, curiously, the radio will power up but will not go into self test mode with the expansion board removed....

CPS 5 with R05 firmware also gives me a solid tone and 'Invalid Rx Freq' on the screen. Re: Astro25 CPS will not run on XP Pro
Just to be clear, in my case, this computer is a laptop with no serial port.
My guess is since this was a fresh install of Windows never having seen a programming cable or USB-serial adapter, the CPS failed to see a com port because Windows had not yet 'created' one.

Re: Astro25 CPS will not run on XP Pro
It would be nice if the error message actually said something meaningful like 'No Com Port Detected'. At least that would have pointed me in the right direction instead of 'cannot find specified file' which basically means nothing.

Re: newly acquired XTS5000 questions
The guide you are referring to is talking about Astro Saber/XTS3000/Astro Spectra firmware versions. The XTS5000 and the like are of a different firmware series. They are fully IMBE down at least as far as version 2. The echo is probably due to the difference in processor speeds between the XTS5000 ...

Unfortunately GEStar is not available in the ASTRO25 radios. The RR flashcode decoder reads a newer option as GEStar. Use the Akardam decoder and it will show up as the correct option.
