Re: Big cans
Sound like pass cavities from a combiner. The coupling loops will determine the insertion loss/s21 and VSWR/s11. Rotate them to get the s21 down and couple more into the cavity. This will make the response of the cavity much wider though. You can convert these to Bp/Br with adding a capacitor in ser...

Re: 6 meter CDM1550 programming
Sorry for the bump, but I recently helped a friend with this. The issue is the squelch is Auto-Moderated above 50 MHz as it has 7 tuning frequencies that stay the same if you only edit the codeplug band limits. The normal frequencies are as follows for 42-50 MHZ These appear from 0x139 to 0x146 in o...

Re: CDM1550ls+ 200 MHz programing issue
It's a dash mount, not a remote mount. My understanding is that you can't upgrade it via the mic, and if I was going to go through the trouble of building a cable, I'd have one that would work for both going in the accessory connector. Plus I can add the other pins and have it worth with the test bo...

CDM1550ls+ 200 MHz programing issue
I picked up a CDM1550ls+ 220 mhz version and didn't have the Motorola OEM cable for programming it, as it looks easy enough to build. I built the rib to accessory plug cable as described in the service manual and I'm able to read and write the radio using both a smart rib and a sandy ganz rib. Howev...

Use the unofficial codeplug tool and set the region to USA. 2.08 and 3.08 will both do this.

Re: crystal filter and preselector insertion losses
A few miles away should be plenty of spacing for the receiver to be able to reject this signal on it's own. How much power is this interfering transmitter running?
You might consider building/buying a notch stub. Lower insertion loss, and it would be tunable to notch out the particular frequency.

Update again. Got new U306 chips in from Digikey. Replaced chip in non working board and still no audio. Did you do any testing or did you blindly replace the chip? It's actually easy to boot the cards on their own or connect them to a PCI bus extender for testing. Found partial schematics for SCM ...

Since you have not included your Exciter and PA Motorola Part numbers, Here is what I did. My Exciter is: TLD9832D (CLD1280A) Move 1K resistor from R-3701 to R-3700. Added jumper from Q3260 emitter to collector thereby ensuring that the upper Freq VCO will be used in all cases! I will need to confi...

I'm wondering if anyone has a concise list of the various power supplies for the Quantar. I've assembled the following, but it's in no way complete. Partnumber Description Motorola Watts? CPN1031 48/60v input yes 600 CPN1049 AC no charger yes 265 CPN1050 AC with Charger yes 265 CPN1047 AC no charger...

Re: HT1250 220MHz Modification - Any help?
In the 2.08 kit the PMUD1761a does work and I can create a codeplug that works in the radio for the ham band. The only problem is when editing the codeplug to allow 0x12 (18d) personalities in the 0x2D8 to 0x2E9 (checksum 5A) range at 0x2E2 is the number of personalities in hex. If I change is in a...

Re: HT1250 220MHz Modification - Any help?
Did some more messing tonight. I built a new code plug based on the default PMUD1760B code plug from the upgrade kit. Bonus, this code plug is now 255 personalities, and has a blank serial number. This seams to fix the problem with converting these to the ham band. Ok, so this doesn't work 100%. Th...

Sorry for the old bump, but this is a good point I've not seen made anywhere else. The amplifier "pallet" is the same between the MTR2000 and the Quantar UHF Generation 1. Pickup a broken one and desolder the transistors from one and put them in the other. The UHF R1-R3 will work for the e...

Re: HT1250 220MHz Modification - Any help?
So I've been doing some work on on this and found there is an issue with the tuner software. I've used the following srecord to program the radio (after modifying the serial). This is a 160 Channel 216-225 MHz s-record that some one made (not me). The tuner software will open the saved tuner values...

Re: Quantar conversion
I've done this, it will work. What is the PN on the SCM you have? There is a fixed part which selects data only, IR or conventional. The boot firmware of the Quantar conventional, Astrotac, and Intellirepeater are all different and will prevent the rest of the code booting. What happens if you put t...

Re: HT1250 220MHz Modification - Any help?
One of the Achilles heal of this mod is it's a software only mod. Even when you get the 25 KHz wide channels working, its still a narrow band IF. This causes unacceptable distortion (at least to me) on wide band. I've changed out some filters and found it works much nice on the ham bands. You need t...

MCS2000 programing via rj-45 (diagram on site is incorrect)
After numerous issues trying to program this using a smart RIB and the Motorola bottom of radio DB-25 cable I sat down and toned the cable out. Turns out the Motorola cable had developed a problem on one of the pins (6). I decided to try a building the RIB to RJ-45 cable off the batlabs main site. S...

Re: remote radio via cisco routers..
Cisco and Twisted Pair are absolutely IN LOVE with i.p. multicast, but you just try making it work on the typical enterprise network. The first problem is the idiot I.T. administrator who claims, "Multicast will bring down my network." Bitch-slap him, then remind him that the OSPF routing...
