I would bet the radio is telling you that it has no encryption key loaded. Doesn't matter if the channel is simplex or duplex/repeater. That's the way encryption works on almost every other product. Either load a valid key or remove encryption from all channels formerly programmed to use it.

Confirming, the GM1200 mobile transmitter is designed to a 20% duty cycle, maximum 60 seconds transmit followed by 4 minutes receive. The heat sink will not even provide sufficient cooling during 50% DMR or analog transmit duty cycle.

The P25 vocoder feeding audio to the telephone interconnect should have its software version upgraded to match the APX8500, to ensure there is no frequency translation of the DTMF tones.

You should need only the QCII A/B function set for the tone pair 143/142. Sounds like Napa County CA first wakes up the entire stationhouse with QC2, followed by a 4-digit DTMF for each piece of responding apparatus.

Yes, that certainly would do it. Glad you found it and know the effect of pre-time delay. In general it's not wise to mix conventional analog and DMR in the same scan group.

This is not a definitive answer, but I would suspect the radio is first expecting to receive an active talk unit or group ID from the outbound channel of the DMR infrastructure, and the software times out after 3 seconds of 'DMR network not found.' The radio will remember its last active site before logging out and powering down (so that it can do a rapid restart) but that's almost never the site where it last affiliated to the system. Or lift them out of the pocket briefly every three months. NiMHs and LiOns don't need to be reconditioned after 30 days of trickle charge. When in doubt read the battery and charger data sheets.

With the right station programming options, COR changes polarity to become Rpt PTT which also includes a hang-timer value. And if you are building an interface, 4N35 optoisolators are ideal for polarity shifting.

And to answer the 2nd part, NO, your radio does not need the orange lead unless you will be transmitting. Green lead fed from +13.8 battery, orange from Ign Switch 13.8 VDC. Ground is returned back to the radio drawer within the control cable - helps keep ignition noise out of the optional accessory...

Did you try using orian ginal factory-legit software package installed on the correct vintage PC and connected to the radio via the proper RIB and programming cable? Dosbox and knock-off RIBs, homemade RIBs, or ribless were not factory supported.

An internally programmed unique ID field might also be shared, in order to provide positive verification that the sending radio is indeed authorized on the system and carries the other detected unit ID. Different network security management products may do that in different ways.

Should be obvious that the op name OP04 cannot be duplicated at the same site. It's similar to assigning the same IP address to both CPUs. That's why they are almost always numbered sequentially as OP01, OP02, OP03, etc.

I guess someone should point out to Ernie that the HLD8029 board is for a VHF radio, while the HLE8300B board is for UHF, so MOST of the component values will be different. Radio service manuals for the GM300 family do include schematics as well as images of the PC board foils.
