Re: APX8000 model 3 to 1.5
Just for anybody who is wondering..i have completed this conversion. This is very simple to do and only requires a model 1.5 chassis and 1.5 housing. Nothing internal or software end needs to change.

Re: APX8000 model 3 to 1.5
just FYI for anybody considering this all you do need is in fact the rear 1.5 chassis and a new housing. Radio will power up and act as normal without the need for any other modifications.

Looking to convert my model 3 to model 1.5 so i can get rid of the bulky holster. What is needed for this? Is it just a simple housing swap with a new 1.5 chassis and housing?

APX6000/8000 Model 1
picked up a cheap APX6000 Model I frame and housing. I did this to convert my model III to Model I for ease of clipping onto a belt without the added belt clip holster.
Will this 6K model I frame/housing work to convert a 8000 model III to model I?

Re: Motorola XTS2500 Vs. XTS3000
XTS3000's are an older radio. 2500's and 5000's have features the 3000's never had. i.e. QC-II, battery display, FPP, better p25 audio etc. 3000's are still a solid radio and found relatively cheap on eBay and forums.
