You can use Windows 10 with a KVL4000, you just can't use the installer package. I did an update today. The workaround is really easy.
Connect to KVL using Windows Mobile Device Center
Go to connect without setting up
Go to file management
Browse to program files/kvl/upgrade
Browse disk you ...

Normally, we let it sit for 24 hours or so on the conditioner, doing that about 3 times and it "most of the time" will recover to 95-100% of capacity. What is the part number of the cable you are using? We had an issue with reading the 4000s and found if we were using the "B" revision cable, it worked fine.

I second the staying with the APX6500. If you are familiar with it, then just keep using it.
