Re: MTR2000 + ID-O-Matic

Thanks for the note. I am familiar with Repeater-Builder. But, it doesn’t specifically address the id-o-matic as used with the mtr2000, if fact, I couldn’t find any references anywhere to that combination. Also, regarding Repeater-Builder, some of the information, being from many different people, c...

MTR2000 + ID-O-Matic

We would like to add a courtesy beep to the MTR2000 and are considering using the ID-O-Matic. Other than that, we have no issues with the built-in controller. I have asked Dan (w7rf) at Radiolan if he had any tips or knew of anyone who had done this. But, he could only tell me he was sure it would w...

Re: MTR2000 courtesy beep

Well, I seem to have been able to answer my own question... it seems the MTR2000 internal controller does not support a courtesy beep. SO, on to hardware solutions...

MTR2000 courtesy beep

We are upgrading our repeater from a GR1225 to a MTR2000. On the GR1225 we have the Courtesy Over Beep enabled. We would like the same on the MTR2000 but cannot seem to find the option. We are using the built-in controller in both radios. Are we missing something? Or, does the MTR2000 only support a...

HT1250 Backlight

I have an HT1250 with an odd problem. The backlight turns itself on. This happens about 45 seconds after turning the backlight off. Also, there is a dim backlight on at all times. I have tried changing the "Automatic Backlight" setting in CPS and that has no effect, same for the Utilities ...

Re: HT1250 Programming error

I have gotten a bit further and found what looks like the source of the problem. I started with the Rotary Control set to Select Channel (fixed) , and that worked. However, changing the setting to Select Channel (Continuous) causes the problem described above. Is this a known issue? Is there a way t...

HT1250 Programming error

I am trying to program a pair of HT1250s (AAH25RDF9AA5AN PMUE1409E & PMUE1409A). One has a full DTMF keypad, the other does not. I am using "Professional Radio" CPS vR06.12.05 on 64bit Win-7 and a 32bit WIN-XP machines. I am able to generally get the radios programmed but at some point...

The problem was in the Radio Wide programming. Option Board Type was set for Full Serial Interface. I set it to None and the radio now works as expected.

Re: Need help with a P1225

As noted in my original post, I have observed this issue with fully charged (new) batteries. Also, the behavior is identical on both radios making it look like a configuration issue -- though I can't see any obvious issues in the code plug.

Re: Remote RSS Programming

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, I do not have physical Ethernet at the location. But, I do have Wi-Fi. So, I looked for RS232-over-Wi-Fi and found a couple of options. But, then I realized I may have been looking at this upside-down... I was trying to do the USB-to-Serial/TTL on the remot...

Need help with a P1225

I have a pair of 16ch UHF P1225s I picked up for a very good price. (Model P94ZPC90C2AA). I am able to program them seemingly without problem, But, when I try to actually use them, they don't seem to work. Checking the output with a frequency counter I get random readings, but none remotely near the...

Remote RSS Programming

I would like to be able to program my GR1225 repeater remotely. One option is to simply place a laptop at the repeater site and do screen sharing. That works, but is not really my first choice as it ties up a laptop full time. The second option, which I have working in a prototype, is to place a sma...

Re: GR1225 sql issue

I have some news to report. We switched to CSQ on tx and we have not observed the problem again. Of course, listeners who are using Tone receive no longer hear the "over beep." Depending on the capability of radios in use on the repeater, we may try to use a different PL on tx. Seems most ...

Thanks for the explaination. So, if if the problem is being caused by the types of issues you note, turning PL off on tx would stop the symptoms I described above, right? That is an easy test. BTW, I doubt it is the duplexer, that was professionally tuned and I have the screenshots of the results. B...

Re: GR1225 sql issue

Thanks to all so far for some interesting ideas. However, one thing still puzzles me: How can the "noise" (or whatever it is that holds the repeater up) do so without the PL tone being present? And, if the PL tone is actually present in the noise, why doesn't it activate the repeater by it...

Re: GR1225 sql issue

Thanks for the quick response. I guess I need to add some additional info. When we first had the problem, the repeater was in another location in the house, and was not grounded. We only grounded it after moving it to the roof. The solar system does not charge local batteries, it just feeds back int...

GR1225 sql issue

We have noticed that our GR1225 (40w, UHF running at around 15w) occasionally exhibits a problem when the receive carrier drops. We operate with a PL tone on rx and tx and what we observe is when the receive carrier drops, the repeater continues to transmit white noise (open monitor) until the TOT h...

No network access. But LOS is a possibility. Can you suggest some microwave systems? I might also be able to use 2.4 gHz wifi gear.

Re: GR1225 Issues - Help Needed

UHF R1225s are notorious for people thinking the PAs were blown, but most I've seen were repairable by resoldering. The transistors in them are remarkably tough. Biggest problem spot is the base tab of the output transistor, gets burnt solder underneath of it sometimes. Also the caps and coils in t...

GR1225 Issues - Help Needed

I have a GR1225 H5157B I am trying to get on the air. When it was received it exhibited a problem noted by several others: It would start to transmit and then immediately cut out. I fixed that by removing, cleaning and resoldering the two caps on the M25C24 - one was clearly cracked free of the sold...
