I'll try again. Have a Com120b with some keyboard issues.
Has anyone been able to repair these? So far just a couple of keys Like power.
I heard the circuit works 2 part solution flakes off and may cause shorts.
Anyone?

Com129b Keypads
Anyone have replacement keypads for the 120b?
I have a couple of buttons working very poorly.
I think these are the carbon impregnated type.
I have heard some have fixed with the circuit works 2 part brush on.
Some say it does not last long, flakes and shorts out.
Anyone have a fix?
TIA

COM120B error problem solved.
Found the problem today with the COM120B, was getting rec level error, distortion meter error. Swapped the baseband and the receive boards. Replaced the rtc Dallas IC. Still had the problem. Tried a cal, same problem. Then checked the functions to find the generator output was 30db low. I thought it...

Re: Com120C run time
Trouble is no fresh 1286 ICs around.
They have not made them for years.
The ones with recent code dates are possible counterfeit..

I found normally only one fan runs. When it gets hot the 2nd fan runs, noticeable sound difference.

Re: SLR8000 Repeater
I had the same problem last year. Moto sent me new firmware for the power supply.
They also had me beta test new firmware for months before release.
Make sure you have the latest firmware.
I have 3 8000 units that work correctly now.

Com120C cooling
So I have noted there are 2 cooling fans in the 120b/c series. Some thermal sensor triggers the 2nd fan as needed. My 120c second fan came on and the room was not that warm. The fan continued to run after I shut down the ifr. I am experimenting by using an external 12v supply. According to the temp ...

I have Com120b with Distortion meter and RX level errors.
Does this sound like caps on the baseband unit?
What else has caused these failures.

Re: IFR Com 120B replacement RTC
I was lucky tonight. I removed the Dallas IC, Installed socket. Did not lose the memory.
When my new Ic's come I will read the chip and try the newly programmed DS1284.
Learned a lot here. Hope it works, I have 4 of my own to do and 4 for my friend.

Re: IFR COM120B Help Needed
Does it work on an external 12v supply?
Also be careful you use a large conductor cable from the 12v supply. The initial current draw is like 10 amps, then settles down to about 4-5 amps.

Com120C receive level set
When in receive, zoomed on the receive level screen there is an option to set level. Whenever I follow the prompt to put a jumper from TR to antenna, I see the calibration happening, BUT After, the receive bar graph shows full, even with no signal. Restoring to defaults from the main menu clears thi...

Re: Aeroflex (IFR) Questions
Continuing to work on my 120B and to figure things out. As like many others the main concern in the RTC, so a while ago I ordered a couple of RTC's from Ebay and was wondering if one would really consider these being made in 2016? Is the DS 1286 the part that is the original RTC? If so from the dat...
