Li-ion 7.2V 3.6Ah is what I had done recently.
(Notebook size 3.6V 1.8AH x 4)
3 vertical 1 hozonital

Drill 2mm holes around the bottom, take out the old batteries & replaced.
(For Li-ion battery that protective circult board must be applied).
Epoxy seal it.
Normal charging is about 4 hrs.

Thanks for all guys of great information.
That mean my ASIII suck the battery normally.
It did been replaced the 1700mAh Li-ion by myself. ( I should make it larger capacity.)
BUt I still wonder this wonderful HT with few standy time.( compare to other Ham HT)

This is brand new 1700mAh DIY Li-ion battery.
I just wonder why the standy time is so short, did it have any power save mode I could set?
Or it is normal using time of ASIII.

Usage time of AS

Newib, Astro III 1700mAh DIY battery used time too short for me.
7 hrs + 4 hrs with low battery icon. ( Standy only, no TX )
Is it normal for it?
Is there any way to extend the battery life?
