Re: NOAA Weather Radio RX Freqs in an HT600
You'll probably laugh at this, but I found out that I have programmed everything correctly, it just took moving outside to get a signal. 162.4000 is the correct NOAA frequency for the area. I think because of the channel deviation, depending on the position I hold the radio I actually (and unintenti...

NOAA Weather Radio RX Freqs in an HT600
Has anyone ever successfully programmed and received from NOAA weather radio freqs? I have the right freqs programmed into the radio but I'm not hearing anything. I've got it set to carrier squelch. Is there anything else I need to do?

Re: MX300 Rubber Replacement
Glad to see replacement parts are still available. Exactly how do these PTT buttons pry off the MX300? I tried popping one off with a very, very tiny flat screw driver and ended up breaking it (DOH!). As far as the little rubber disc inside the accessory connector recess on the radio, apparently it ...

MX300 Rubber Replacement
Need help on replacing two rubber parts on a few of my MX300 series radios. First off, how do I go about replacing the rubber PTT button? Second, any idea how to replace the round rubber piece in the center of the accessory connector? On nearly all of my radios, that center rubber piece has turned i...

Re: Need some MX300 UHF Crystal help
Doh! Looks like I did have it backwards. So with that in mind, I will want a 451 RX module. Out of curiosity, where did you look that information up at? I looked the name on the FCC's website, and the information I found that I didn't already know was the call-sign (WPPX518).

Re: Need some MX300 UHF Crystal help
If I understand how the crystal MX300s work combined with what you said, as long as the frequencies I need are within the RX module +/- the offset module, I should be good? Since they use RX 456.900 (and no, it's not backwards; it's odd but the TX is low and the RX is high), wouldn't I want an RX mo...

Need some MX300 UHF Crystal help
Need a little crystal-related help. I'm trying to get one of my non-synthesized MX340s to work with the repeater system at the Titan Missile Museum. I talked to the archivist there today and got the go ahead to try this. They are using PL code 6Z (167.9 Hz) and use TX 451.900 and RX 456.900. What cr...

Re: Dayton 2010 Whos IN? (can we make this a sticky?)
Out of curiosity, do you have to pay or get a bus pass to ride the shuttle from the parking to the convention? Also, can you re-enter the convention if you buy something heavy and need to run it out to the car? This is my first time going, and one of the first few road trips I've taken since getting...

Re: Need help identifying this Motorola repeater
Non-functional would be fine, as the museum has a modern Motorola repeater installed that is UHF (whereas the original USAF system was VHF), and they are using the original antenna system (RADIAX coax). The museum-installed repeater works pretty well!

Re: Need help identifying this Motorola repeater
Thanks for all of the information. The purpose for the RADIO NET OVERRIDE was for emergencies/propellant transfer operations. The idea was the crew commander or deputy commander could override portable traffic to provide evacuation instructions/etc. Looking at TO 21M-LGM25C-1 (the "owners manua...

Re: Need help identifying this Motorola repeater
I know for a fact it's a VHF system, because that's what the portables (SP MX340s) are. A couple lingering questions that hopefully someone can answer: 1) The base station was connected to two consoles in the control center, so that the crew can transmit using this repeater by pressing a button at e...

These two figures came straight from the USAF Titan II ICBM field maintenance tech order for the Radio-Type Maintenance Network, which comprised of all Motorola equipment. Re: MTX800 as a trunked scanner?
I'm not a total amateur; I understand the basics of a trunking system, I'm just not all that familiar with the specifics of each type of trunking. It doesn't take an expert to know that transmission to an unauthorized system is a serious offense. That, and I had a very thorough plan to physically, a...

Re: MTX800 as a trunked scanner?
You are better off buying a scanner. Seriously. If you don't have the technical skills to create a system key and modify your radio so it doesn't TX at ALL, you are asking for serious problems with the law. I understand the serious consequences and legal issues at hand here. I have the resources to...

Re: MTX800 as a trunked scanner?
The MTX800 won't do type II. It won't handle rebanding. Understood. Suggestion: Sell those doorstops at your local hamfest for a buck a piece and buy a scanner. I'd rather just hold onto them and use them for parts, if I can't do anything else with them. My understanding is that the MTX820/820S, ho...

Another vote for the MX300 Series (including the 300/R). They used those things in the Titan II ICBM program, even during propellant transfer operations! If they can survive Titan's toxic and highly corrosive propellants, they can survive nearly anything. Second vote for the Genesis (HT600/MT1000) s...

Hi. Just got my radios back and something strange is going on. Every one in a while, I'll hit the ptt, and makes a sound like a grr, or like a truck running until the ppt is released. The channel is programmed and the codeplug's ok. Could this be a Nextel thing and should I start worrying?

Hi. I'm thinking of turning one of my HT600 chargers into a car charger. This is the standard 1 unit charger, same size as the rapid charger. Will a 12v to 22v ctransformer work if i replace the one is the case, and do i need to change anything else?
Thanks.
Thanks.
