Check any jumpers or flexes inside the unit for scorching/continuity. They sometimes appear normal but on testing -are not-.

Motorola will not provide a DSM for that radio for any reason. In the past we got restricted DSMs via CD and FedEx signed delivery. Motorola has too much IP leakage and just doesn't provide the documentation anymore. Only hope is send it in.

Recover the radio and try again.

Also, power switch off. Radio battery placed on radio. Radio still powers up? Or only gets lost when you throw the battery on while the power switch is on?

The synthesizer can't lock likely because the reference oscillator crystal is not running. Chances are, impact damage or a bad solder connection in that area. IF you find a defective crystal, the radio will need alignment if replaced. Poke around in that area and see if you can get the radio to go b...

I have had a number of speakers go open. But also, accessory jacks go bad almost as much. The jack can be replaced fairly easily in about half an hour with a hot air tool and a vacuum solder station.

You have to order the complete control top, and specify color. There are different part numbers for each color. About $400.

Parts ID can get you the correct P/Ns.

Yup, bit-banging the MLM without doing it right can screw things up. If those old MLMs still work but just missing that feature, you can bang it back in if you have the patience.

Your best bet would be to take your radio to an automotive paint shop and have them color match a quart for you. Probably the only way you will get what you need. As far as I know, Moto no longer has touch up paint since all the cases are made in Malay.

Those would work, but it was much easier to just fabricate cables from parts on hand. That way too, I had control of the fab process and was able to sweep each cable as they were built.

The all band antenna shipped with the APX8500 is a QMA. I just made a pair of patch cables from QMA to N for wattmeters and testing, and gave a set to each tech and installer. Yeah, it's a PITA, but I haven't see an adapter kit that has them - yet.

You can replace this with any other XTS2500 or 1500 display from any band radio. It you can't find one, there are several eBay sellers selling the earlier 04 version of this display. Moto has discontinued it. NLA

Nice catch. I knew we could generate a radio and delete empty zones but obviously there is a fault in the CPS, probably doesn't know what to do with the zone/channel info if not blank and crashes.

110AC to 12VDC is for low power repeaters, 110AC to 24VDC is for 110 watt repeaters. If your input is from a DC source, those supplies are harder to find. 800 Mostars had a rash of bad plating which would grow whiskers inside the shielded areas. When a Trunked Mostar would quit working, taking the castings out and cleaning them thoroughly would fix the problem so that the radio would lock again and be on frequency.

I bought the last plugs (both black and red) and the jacks too that Motorola had in stock. I have not been able to find a sub for them to this date. I use them on panels for high current test leads. My two R-1011s are still running along with no hiccups.

You should trim the antenna according to the cutting chart. The antenna for low band is only good for a small (1.5mHz) range, and you cannot 'tune' a Waris Series HT, other than in tuner to set the rated power output.

Use the ComSpec community repeater tone panel, and follow the instructions in one of their app notes. The repeater panel has the native capability to mute user PL's on hang time.

If you have another (or several) Trbo radios you can drag channels, Zones or contacts from them into the new radio.
Other than that, take frequent breaks, stand up and stretch, and stay hydrated!

Try a different adapter. Does the USB Serial adapter show up in Device Manager? If it doesn't show up, a new adapter is needed. In DM you can specify what port to use for the adapter.

Change your caps, fix the corrosion and re-examine the display board. A bad/leaky cap could also cause the driver in question to not work correctly.

old toughbooks for DOS are pretty cheap on eBay. I bought a bunch of CF-27s a few years ago and they are still in service. Used for exactly the same purpose, customers with HT1000s.

If you are turning on a battery switch, the ign sense must be wired to the switched side of the battery switch. The high current red lead and ground must remain hot to the battery at all times. Why not just put the correct connector on the rear of the radio and be done with it? The connector comes with the EMER jumper installed, plus an ignition sense lead and speaker connector.

If using a serial cable (why would you - USB is the preferred method) mkae sure the CPS is set to use the serial cable in _view_options_. Are you using the OEM serial programming cable for XTS? It's not the same as the Jedi series cable. In Win 10 you are going to have dificulty getting a serial cab...

That should work, although Moto keeps claiming that any FW older that three revisions past is not supported.

Try upgrading to an intermediate version.
