I can relate to your sentiment as I have an HT440 laying around somewhere in the ham bands. In addition to being a reliable beast as a portable, it did remarkably well in a Converta-com connected to a mobile antenna.

F.W.I.W., I just noted that I failed to mention that my employer actually has operations in neighboring states, but, both locations are under the same FCC license. I know this to be a fact as I am the license trustee and I requested it through our service provider. Hope this post actually helps!

You could go with the Motorola RMM2050 MURS radios. These are a relatives of the RDX radios that my employer uses. Not the best, but, they get the job done.

Thanks for the input. I will probably go with the CA-2X4SR because if I had to add another antenna, there are 6 meter and 10 meter dual band antennas that would cover everything else. Regardless of rating, like you point out Radiosouth, I won't try anything without verifying SWR.

When you say "changing frequency parameters" are you referring to programming out of band? At the very least if you are a ham, the T band HT1000 can be programmed down to the 440Mhz (70Cm ) band using the shift key method as described in the "Model Specific" info found on the main page of this site.

What I do is program my P200 with this version of the HT600 software that works fine on the newer computer. My guess is that Motorola patched only the HT600 software as it can be used for either HT600's or P200's, so there was no need to do both. I hope this helps. Good luck. Shaun

Thanks for the response, guys. Mike, Digikey is saying the capacitors are obsolete. Part target did have them but, wanted a minimum order of 10 pieces @ $85.00 each. Do you know where I can find these, or, a replacement for them without spending a small fortune?

Thanks Will. I did get the correct antenna. I cut it for a 52 Mhz center freq, and it turned out to be 6 1/8 long as I saw mentioned somewhere else on a post. I see what you mean by the noticeably different construction. The antenna works great.

Just my 2 cents. My buddy, who is a Moto Tech, actually bought a CP200 brand new. Between the audio that could stand to be better, and, the battery that seemed to be running out all too often, he has had enough. Recently, he upgraded to an HT1000. No comparison whatsoever.

Part of it might be that a 2 channel HT1000 will do 16 channels with very little effort. See Batlabs for details. I'm using one on 440 MHz.
