The GM-300 should not need a pull-up resistor. As long as you can set a programable pin as cor or cor+pl it should interface to a cat 1000 no problem. If a pin is not programable or you are using an older maxtrac or something like that, I find that that the audio PA enable voltage makes a OK logic s...

Sti-co makes good antennas, however they do have to be tuned which can be tricky. The same with couplers. I have used a mag mount under the vehicle or in a plastic bumper. Not great, but works. If it's a funky vehicle, a ball mount with a spring (no whip) gives a OK match on UHF. A half wave mounted...

If it is programmed through RSS as user programable, you would press and hold scan until it beeps (a sec or two). Display flashes on and off. Use mode button to step through channels and then press sel to toggle scan member(a little hash mark means it's in the scan list). Press scan again to exit. I...

Sounds like you have a remote A5 or A7 Spectra (see Batlabs model decipher page). It is correct to have the DB-15 connector with the single red ignition sense wire. Stock /\/\ cables come with a 4 amp fuse. A remote head plugs into the short pigtail off the head. A dash mount will plug into the rear...

With all said above, I will throw in my two cents. Check your power to the radio. I have seen this with certain M power supplies. Could happen on vehicle installs too. The key up and hand-shake to the control channel happens very quick. If there is a voltage drop during this time, the high speed dat...

I don't know for sure about the CM's, but older radios (maxtrac) did not provide mic bias voltage at the 16 pin acc connector. If your set up is using an electret mic element (as it should) it will need several volts on the mic high line to operate. On a maxtrac, a 4.7k resistor from the 9.6v source...

I won't dissagree with above posts, but here is what exists locally. There is a SAR group that is authorized to use VHF simplex only. Works ok for on scene comms for all personell. No one has replied yet so I'll jump in. I did this once years ago to a T-1600 remote. Added a lamp to alert a partly deaf person of radio traffic. Anyway, you'll need a VOX board. Ramsey electronics have a cheap kit you can put togrther in 10 or 15 mins. I have used them before and surprisingly, no ...

I don't know if it is along this line, but here is an important note about maratracs and tx power. Have you ever installed a new maratrac? Not getting into the fray of proper installation practices, you are probally losing just enough voltage that causes the radio to shut down or whatever. Now for CDM TRIVIA! I had a customer who complained that the radios did not power up when the vehicle powered up (via a charge guard) OK I said, not...

OK I'll jump into this although I have lost a lot of hair dealing with pager plans. You are correct, the first two pagers will not respond to a long B becuz of the tone difference. The only thing I can think of is add tone C to all pagers and set up M2 for A-B, long C (have you priced those tone fil...

re UHF Mitrek int tx power
I give the nod to Will's reply. I have fixed plenty of uhf mitreks. My first thought when I see int tx power is the harmonic filter. Bang on the screw heads with a screwdriver butt while tx and watch power. Then pop the bottom and look at the coil solders to the filter assy. Any cracked? Common Mitr...

Fail 01/90. Common problem. The manual says this is a serial comm problem with the radio. Usually power to the radio chassis is missing (the head can't talk to the radio, hence 01/90). If fuse and power cable are OK, find the little green pico fuse on the command board and check if is open. By the w...
