I converted one.... it wasn't too bad, and it works well. With the short antenna & low cap battery pack, it make s a nice compact rig. Do it, it was fun!

EX600-XLS basic questions
Hi Folks~
I have an EX600-XLS uhf, marked 5.04.00 on the inside tag & i am asking 2 questions:
1- i see there are USB & 9-pin programming cables available - are either better/worse?
2- what CPS version is needed? I am assuming 6.10.4, but might it need something older/newer? Any way to tell for ...

Re: spectra RR prog. cable question
PJ-
tnx - i see now that nO 12 vdc is applied on the RR rigs..... i am using a 25 mhz toughbook w/moslo at 10% - the software opens (any higher i get the divide by 0 error), but im wondering if it is still too fast? My guess is yes.......

spectra RR prog. cable question
i have the cable to program the low power STD & 900 spectras & it has 12 vdc inbound to the radio on db15 pin 5, but the RR spectra shows VIP 1 IN on pin 5 & i dont see where the 12vdc needs to go. Is pin 5 still correct? The rest of the prog. cable looks the same.

mtx9000 max channels?
hi group~
I picked up a couple of no display mtx-9000's at dayton cheap. they program up a-ok, but they show only having 16 channels max. I can program much more personalities in to it & i was assuming i could do 3 zones of 16 channels each using the A-B-C switch (like my display top version)
Is ...

TDN8305B dtmf mic question
I got this dtmf mic on a GTX mobile & works fine on it... when i put it on a 900 maxtrac the RX audio is very muffled. As the mic connectors between the rigs are *supposed* to be the same, im not sure why it isnt completely compatible on the maxtrac - no manulas at this time to compare prints either ...

"shorty" ht600/mt1000 batteries
I see a ton of aftermarket 1200 maH batteries for the ht600/mt1000 line out there, but is anyone making the short, lower-maH, slow charge packs any more? A UHF 600 with a stubby antenna & a lo-profile battery made a nice small-ish package......

maxtrac 900 squelch wont open
I have a d27 900 maxtrac that i did the ham conversion on & everything looks a-ok, but the squelch wont open, nor will the busy light light. I have set the RX for carrier squelch, still wont open. I have keyed my GTX portable right next to it, & i can hear it on the maxtrac across the room, but not ...

uhf spectra adding conv. modes to trunked rig
In the origional program there was only one trunking mode, in mode 01 & i left that alone. If i add a conventional mode, after 01 named mode 02, the RSS lets me do it with no warnings or errors, but after i load it into the radio, all i get is mode 0 ... which was not there before - like it somehow ...

uhf spectra adding conv. modes to trunked rig
radio is a D44ZXA5JC7AK (and is a remote mount radio although the model # shows dash mount, so it may well be "pre-buggered")
Also, even with only one mode for trunkng, if i only add ONE mode conventional it sets the display to "mode 0 " and i can not select either mode. By reprogramming with the ...

uhf spectra adding conv. modes to trunked rig
OK, heres a question..... i have a uhf mobile spectra (off ebay), and it came with one mode (a trunked mode) programmed. When i read the plug it shopws the max # of modes as 250, and the RSS will allow me to add up tp 128 conventional modes, but when i dump this to the radio, it boots up & says ...
