We were using a free site to create voice announcements for MOTOTRBO 2.0 radios (CP200d, XPR3500e) but that site has some security issues.
What do you guys use to create voice files that aren't huge (CP200's don't have a lot of memory).

There is no jumper required. The external speaker runs in parallel with the internal speaker. From what I recall, it's pre-programmed from the factory for the standard marine channels (just like most marine radios) and not field programmable. I had a manual at one time, but not sure I could find it now (if I still have it).

In the past I have used a different PL on the RX and TX frequencies of a repeater to head off issues on installs that were at risk for intermod. It was a bit of preventive medicine, but more of masking an issue rather than solving it.

Cap+ repeater issues on XPR7550e running 2.09 and 2.10
We are seeing an issue running 2.09 and 2.10 firmware on XPR7550e portables accessing a Capacity Plus repeater where the repeater is running an older version of firmware.
Updating the repeater firmware is problematic due to access issues.

They have an import utility. A simple spreadsheet/CVS file.
It's disappointing that Motorola doesn't have some method to import channel info into their radios.

LTR data levels are fairly critical. Are you running wideband or narrowband? Narrowbabnd LTR levels ate 700 to 800 Hz deviation. The LTR data from the controller to the repeater needs to go into a flat audio input, typically DC coupled.

I have a customer complaining of the same issue (spiking RX audio) using Peltor headsets. It's operating on a Cap+ UHF repeater. We have been unable to duplicate it in shop. This is on a XPR7550e radio.

We are just using standard 7.2AH, 12 volt UPS type batteries with some foam packing around it. The originals were only 5 AH, so it gives a bit more run time.

Do a quick test. Transmit on the speaker mic, while holding the PTT button down, turn the radio off. I suspect the radio may not power down until you release the PTT button.
This may help prove it's a bad mic.

Also try another tone (if possible). Maybe a lower tone like 77 Hz, or a higher one up around 200 Hz.

One thought here is just to use a USB cellular modem "Rocket stick", but I like the idea of a good quality Sierra modem/router. It allows for an external antenna and probably a some management features.

I would start with programming a second channel in the repeater in analog mode. Channel steer to that channel and do a full set of tests (site noise, TX desense, co-channel interference etc).
