I am looking for info on the amount of current that the Astro Saber III will draw when the radio is Transmitting.

I want to relocate the battery apart from the radio, and need to know the minimum AWG of wire that I should use.

Max length will be 1 meter

They have some nice flashy lights. And I like the pricing. I would be using the lights on a service truck, so they will not be used as heavy as on an emergency vehicle.

There are two things that I have been able to determine. 1st It is important is that the Ohm’s match. All of the components should be at 50 ohm’s I.E Radio, Connectors, Coax, thru to Antenna. 2nd As the coax increases in size it will handle a grater load (watts) for longer runs with less signal loss...

Just to give you a heads up.
I am designing a NTN4593 that will have 1.2 volt, 10 farad supercaps that will replace the regular cells to see if it will work with the SVA so you don't need to use a regular Battery. So if it works you don't need to worry about cooking a good battery.

Umm. there is no speaker on the units are they are only 2 watts. Frank Are you talking about the SVA's? You have to supply a powered speaker or go to an amplifier off the DB25 connector. I figured out how to mount the extra resistors on u003. I got a chip socket that had extra long legs. I cut the legs on 3 & 4 then soldered a smd type resistor in line, soldered the socket on to the board and installed the U003 chip. Not done building the board yet but it meters out ok. Dr Frank...

Well received the first batch for DOA batteries. I have been able to open up a couple so far with my miter saw, by removing 3/32 of an inch witch leaves me a 3" and 7/8" casket. Some of the battery flex were burned up by what looks like a major shorting or over drawn of current. I was able...

Type of wire for programing (New Question)
