Re: How do you become a Moto tech?

IMHO the GROL is useless. When I went to study for that test it was all maritime radio BS mixed in with a little antenna theory. The CET WCM and USMSS cert's are the way to go, hands down.

Re: JPS Voter not always initially voting the best site

When using pilot tone over IP connections we have had jitter problems resulting in pops and clicks over the repeater when the jitter buffers get full. Going to E&M on the nxu-2's was the solution for those systems, but we did not have the issue you were having.

Re: JPS Voter not always initially voting the best site

Yeah if you have people who are consistantly low deviaton you may need to add a little boost to the system by changing your alignment procedure. The main thing is that the yellow lights are on when someone is talking and the red lights frequently flash with the peaks as FMROB said.

Re: JPS Voter not always initially voting the best site

1) I second that unless you are talking quietly or have a radio with poor deviation the audio levels are not adjusted properly. Injecting a full quieting 1k tone at 2/3 system deviation plus pl should just light the yellow light steady and you can measure +5db at the test point on the front of the s...

The newer routers with CCGW cards in them DO have V.24 ports and those connect to Acc 1 on the consolette for ACIM link control. The audio is handled between the E&M ports on the CCGW and Acc 2 on the consolette.

Yes the tuning data in the vocon does not match the tuning data in the rf board, I have seen several of these and every time CPS will read them and write to them but tuner will puke on reading the tuning data. I cannot speak of a 3920 but I doubt it would correct this when tuner will not.

No, the aux port is for a gps or other device. The radio is programmed by the db25 connector on the bottom of the radio, you have to remove the plug that's screwed in there and attached to the vrm front, then you can use a mcs2000 service cable to program the radio.
