I still use an Astro Saber Program cable that Monty made just before he passed away,to this day It works perfect.
He is well missed by many people here on the board and always will be missed.

I have 2 NTN4734B Chargers, Yes, They charge Ni-MH Batteries with out any problems. I use 4 3000 mAh batteries from Batteryzone and they work great, still going strong a year
and a half later. The A version Saber chargers are well known battery burners, avoid using them!

I hoped you used a soft cloth to remove your finger prints from the parts and the frame? The acids on your fingers will corrode on the frame and shields and will look horrible
in due time. Always make it a point to keep your radio clean before you put back together.

Another good fix is bend the battery contacts with a small flat head screw driver so that they make a stronger contact with the battery. Also tighten the spanner nuts on the battery plate until they are snug.

If You are using a W&W GARBAGE battery! Replace it with a new Motorola battery ASAP! The W&W Garbage batteries have a bad habit of causing the same problem with many other radios as well.

TonyG, You can use your radios on murs frequencies, They don't require a radio license. The best setting's to use for your XTS500/2500 is

No AGC

Fixed Gain level of 3 for Analog, Digital, and Secure. For both Radio and Mic.

Enable the Digital Analog Balance. Radio will sound perfect.
