So - if I'm hearing you correctly; the system will not allow duplicate ID's? How does the system know the difference between my portable and my mobile if they are using the same ID?

I guess for every 10 things you think you know, there are 20 that you don't. ;-)

Well - my ID couldn't have been zapped, cuz my portable works fine.

The reason this is so perplexing is - the code plug seems to be correct; the radio TX's on simplex, and it receives and tracks just fine.

Could it be something to with the way I remotely mounted the radio? Maybe a cable issue ...

Yes - I am an authorized user on the system. I am using the same ID that my portable has been programmed with.

This may or may not have started back when I installed a TX inhibit switch. I had to move a few zero ohm resistors/jumpers around on the back of the control head (remotely mounted radio ...

Trunked Spectra won't see system?

For some reason my 800 trunked Spectra will TX on simplex, but will not TX on the trunked system - why?

Everything in the programming looks perfect, and for all intensive purposes it should work, but when I key the mic... the radio makes about 6 attempts to affiliate and them gives me the steady ...

Point taken....

I appreciate your input and concern, George, but the fact of the matter is we are losing one to two Spectra radios a week. I am merely attempting to get these radios back up and running until we can get XTL5000 replacements. It takes time to get these radios ordered, shipped, sent to county radio ...

MTS2000 gang charger question

I have a gang charger for the MTS2000 portables that is not working correctly. When you place a battery into any of the cups, the three LEDs light in sequence (yellow-red-green) and then the red begins to flash.

I have given the board a good looking-over, and can not see anything burnt or missing ...

Spectra board swap...???

What boards can you swap between different Spectra radios? For instance; can you take a command board or RF board from a UHF Spectra, and put it into an 800 trunked Spectra? I have a few Spectra's that have bad/unrepairable RF and command boards, and I was wondering if I can purchase unlike Spectra ...

Spectra "FAIL001" error?

Can someone tell me what would be some probable causes for the "FAIL001" in a Motorola Spectra radio? Is this a problem with the RF board, or the command board?

Also, can someone tell me where all of the programming information is stored? i.e.: Control channels; frequencies; PL's, etc. Is this ...

Ok, here's the skinny. I have inspected two of the radios so far, and... It’s the dreaded cap problem. They have managed to leak onto the PC board and ruin some resistors on BOTH sides of the board.

I believe the RF board on the first radio is not repairable, but the second one may be saved. I'll ...

I have more info now!

OK -- the trouble that we are having with 75% of the radios that we've lost seems to be a synth board problem. The symptoms are -- the radios display the "Out of Range" error, and when you attempt to TX on the radios, there is a high pitched wine (feedback) that is emitted from the radio.

Could ...

Lost four Spectra's this week at work. Why?

In the past week we have lost 4 Spectra radios in our patrol cars. They just quit working. Could it be the dreaded capacitor time bombs? If not the caps, then what? Any one out there experience this type of problem? If so, what ended up being the cause? Please share!! We only have 30 more radios ...

Do you have any info regarding the jumpers for any A5/C5 control head boards? That would at least give somewhere to start.
