M1225 4ch to 20ch?

I believe I saw an old (2003ish) post on this but it had never been answered.

Is it possible to convert a 4ch M1225 to a 20ch M1225 with the proper software / hardware?

I only ask as I have a good 4ch radio and a 20ch parts radio with a bad board but a good head.

PM recv'd, email sent. Definitely is weird, I went through every setting in the entire codeplug and can't seem to find anything to remedy it. I tried adding a DEK in the codeplug so I can undo whatever is wrong, but can't seem to figure it out.

When I open the radio codeplug, the DEK isn't even present under radio configuration. When I go to features > controls > etc on the drop down menu bar, I get DEK A, DEK B, DEK C, DEK D but they're all grayed out. Yes. You need to have special secret squirrel software (don't ask) and an srec from an VHF radio matching your target configuration (flashcode, model number, etc).

On the hardware side, you simply have to take out the vocon board from the uhf radio and place it in the vhf radio. Once that's done ...

It was read with the latest cps when taken into the radio shop. The tech stated that whoever last programmed the radio had screwed up the programming.

I have the feeling it is possible, channels go 1-2-2-2-2-2-2 when a 16ch knob is added in place of the 2ch one, though I haven't looked at the software in awhile. Is it as simple as simply adding more channels, or must one open up their favorite hex editor.

same condition, the radio had been run over, the controller board was bent but not broken, straightened everything out, but the radio wouldnt power on for anything.

hmm appearantly the fuse location <i>is</i> different on an mt1500, most of that diagram looked like the radio, though the location of the fuse in particular looked nothing like what the inside of my radio looks like.

not sure what band, when i got it, it was pretty damaged and the tags were unreadable. only way to find out would be to get the radio fixed and read the bandsplit in cps.

The fuse is located on the front of the housing, the same piece of plastic with the speaker attached. Follow the battery contacts to a green colored 'bead', this would be the fuse.

why dont you just take two fans, attach them to the top and bottom of the radio and have one blowing air into the heatsink and one drawing the air out
