Re: Syntor X9000 prog issue
Agreed a 1G machine is just way too fast. The X9000 was designed to work under the 286 platform. I have been sucessfull with 486's, but I have never been able to get a 486 to successfully program the radio. Find a OLD SLOW 386, or a bunch of them, and use it for programming these radios. Great radio...

For identification purposes on radios / batteries we needed it on, we would use the same 3M reflective tape we used on the side of the patrol cars. I still have a few old batteries marked in this manner. It is pretty common forsome agencies.

If you have a model II or III the newer displays also require newer firmware, and the firmware upgrade is included with the new displays. As a individual in the US I don't believe you could be licensed on a 800 Mhz frequency even something conventional. ASK was designed to keep out rogue radios. As far as one agency to another hand me downs, agency A would have no problem deprogramming the radios and removing their system key from the radios before passing them onto agency B. Goverment issued and legitimate radio on the system, I would suggest taking it back to your radio shop. There may be a issue in the programming.
Also, I had a tough time decifering which antenna you are using. The normal longer antenna should work much better than the stubby.
