Dim Display

I would sure try the caps first, but your display itself may just be worn out, you would need a new display to correct. It could also be a voltage issue in the display driver circuit.

I guess you are into the front panel alignment of the radio. You are right, you should stay away from the dev and ref osc adjustments. If you dont know what you are doing, you shouldnt be into the alignment section at all. The value 40 does not relate to a specific power in watts, but if it is adjus...

Well, without the RSS I wouldnt suggest messing with the radio at all, except for the above advice on the possible leaky caps. If you swap pa's, they should be tuned with RSS, otherwise you just dont know what they are doing. In any case, with the RSS, you could turn down the TX power to only what y...

It sounds like you are trying to dump a codeplug into this radio from another radio. If so, you will have to read the radio first, modify what you need to, then program the radio with that.

Also, if the backlighting will not stay on even though programmed to do so, that means that you do not have an "enhanced" head. About the only difference that I can see between normal or enhanced heads.

Is there actually a model of Spectra that programs through the front db25, or is this a mistake? Like batdude says, I would have thought you would hook up to the rear db15 for this. btw, I have seen the vrch software, it is really cool. Havnt used it yet, though.
