Turn the Pre-Amble on and set the pre-time delay for like, 2000ms. "Wawawawawawawwawawawawawawawawwawawawawawawawawawawaw-Bleeeeeee" Then also enable Post-ID so it dies it both at Key-up and when you let go.

New codeplug in radio, old software on computer......

Situation: Need to reprogram an MT2000 that has a codeplug newer than teh version of software we have. (You read it and it says "Codeplug too new."). How can we get around this. We had this problem with some of the MTS2000 radios, but I had an older codeplug saved on the computer and just overwrote ...

Question on changing bands...

OK, I know this in not a Motorola Specific question, but here goes.... Can the actual band of a newer portable be changed without changing parts or boards and simply re-programming it? Reason I ask.... Our fire dept has many many..... Kenwood..... portables, all are new I think TK-390's. Our bright ...

ah ha. I understand exactly what you are saying. Why didn't I think of that before. I have had to do the same duplication thing on mine. A & B are all the same modes except the ones in B have no PTT Sidetone. (B is the silent version of A). C is all different. It would be nice if you could associate...

MTS2000 programming help....

As I sit here trying to fanagle the programming on my radio, I have come to realize I am stuck. I don't have a programing manual and just can't get it. Here are 2 things I want to do.... 1: How on earth do I select different scan lists. I don't see an option to make a button "scan list". If that isn...

I just wish there was a way I could set the level of the PTT Sidetone on my MTS2000 lower than the actual volume. I love the pre-ID, but I hate being in a room with other people, and having to have BEEEEEEEP come blaring out when the Volume is up high.

2 seconds? Our portables have the pre-time set to 400ms. The ID takes what? 170ms. That 570ms, slightly over 1/2 a second. 2 seconds is WAY to long for anything.

Yea, some people will just never get that. I get that sometimes too. "It makes this beep when try to talk. It's broken". I still think the ID on Key-up is best because the pre-time allowed you to catch the repeater, ID, then talk. It forces the unit to pause before speaking. Front-end clipping from ...

Visar: Mic not muting during MDC PTT ID Sidetone.....

I found this quite interesting. One of my co-workers just got a Visar to use here. Now, just like any other radio with a PTT ID, there is a Sidetone out the speaker. It seems that on this radio, the microphone is not muted during the MDC Transmition. SO, the the Sidetone is picked up by the mic and ...

That tape is some scary stuff. The kind of thing I don't ever want to have a unit call in to me. All I could do is listen and talk, nothing else. When I was a dispatcher for the CT DEP at Hammo, we had one peticular employee who had moved up here from South Carolina. He has a very strong southern ac...

I wouldn't call it "dead". Although, I'm sure without this laptop and internet here in this room, I would have quite an elaborate ham radio station here. I just take a portable inside with me now instead.

We don't use them on any of our Fire Apparatus. This is maily because the electronics and engine are either both on or both off. I can't help but notice you live in an area with a lot of trees. Judging by the looks of your last truck/tree encounter, you may want to consider an HT and a new pair of walking shoes. PS, What happen to the tree?????? Oh ha ha. The trees wouldn't have been a problem if it wasn't for that nice stee...

hmm. I get the feeling some of you are speaking from experience on this cracking your head open thing :) I was kind of hoping to literally HIDE the stealth UHF antenna for the PAC-RT somewhere (ie- not on the roof). On our rescue, radio service mounted one of those stealths UNDER THE TRUCK. Now, I c...

My setup.... current and future plans. Need opinions.

Hey everyone. I am looking for some opinions on my current setup and my plans for additions. I have a speaker between the stick-shift and seats of my ranger. With the windows down on the highway, it is just loud enough to hear. Looks nice! I'd be careful with the footwell for the mic clip though. Depending on where it is, it is very convinient for a leg to rest on it causing those classic "ooops, open mic" things. :) Looks really nice though.

VHF radio with VHF PAC-RT.... Why not?

I am curious asto why you are not supposed to use a PAC-RT on the same band as the main radio. Would, for example, a 100 watt VHF Syntor x9000 over power the PAC-RT and make it useless? I would like to be able to use the same band for both... Our emergency manegement is on VHF and I would like to ha...
