Shouldn't be too hard to put a new DB25 on the cable you already cut up. The other cable you have should be usable as a programming cable. You'll just have to cut off the male DB25 on the end, ring out the wires to see which pin in the "T" goes to which wire, then put a female DB25 on it.

Those are "internal" Motorola part numbers. They wouldn't mean anything to anyone else, and I've never found anywhere to cross them. Your local Motorola dealer can help, provided they are willing to do so.

Interesting. There should have been a "hex edit with hex workshop" option added to your right-click context menu in Windows. Just go to any file you want to hex edit, right click on it, and select the "hex edit" option from the menu. You don't even need Hex Workshop opened beforehand.

No, the editing doesn't have to be done is DOS. It really doesn't matter what OS you use, as long as you have a hex editor that will run under that particular OS. Just FYI, the Saber's should retain the encryption key for about 30 seconds after battery removal (or the battery voltage gets low enough). As long as you keep a good battery on it, and perform all battery swaps in under 30 seconds, it should keep the key.

Just to verify that everything got moved to your "new" computer correctly, you should have, at a minimum, :

maratrac.exe
m1000._hd
m1000.hlp
maratrac.tab
maratrc1.ovl
maratrc2.ovl

If anything is missing, mainly the .exe and .ovl files, it won't work properly.

I haven't actually had my hands on the radio. The person who discovered it could be made to work with a heat gun was just heating up the outside case of the radio. I was just wondering if this was a common problem, and, if so, what causes it.

Oh, I forgot to add that the radio will power up and work normally if a hair dryer or heat gun is turned on it, and the problem first showed up on the first cold day in this area this year.

I think I may see your problem. Is the wire going to pin 10 on the Saber also connected to the ground connection on the Saber (the "circle" around the "dot" at the upper left of the accessory connector)? If the ground isn't hooked up, it will not go into keyload mode.
