I installed 1/2" LDF4-50 for my HOA's licensed UHF repeater and while the length is only 40' in the pseudo bell tower where the antenna is hidden it works just fine.

Re: XTL Model Upgrade - 1500 to 2500 or 5000

The only legal model upgrade that I have ever seen is with rebanded XTS2500's where /\/\ would allow you to change, via a flashkey, from an RB XTS2500 to a standard XTS2500. This change did things like increased the # of available modes and allowed for trunked & conventional P25. There are other...

It is very painful....took me 2 years to get my work address updated from some unknown address that I had no idea how it got there.
It took two (2) mis-directed invoices to finally get their attention.

Re: APX 6000 800 Mhz programming

A programmer has the ability to lock down the radio to where all you have the ability to do is just one channel and PTT, literally a dummy proof radio.
You can scan analog & digital together with no issues in both trunking and conventional as long as the radio has digital in the flashcode.

Depending on the FW and CPS version used, yes it can have 800 modes for a model II and III (Model I and 1.5 are limited to 96 modes I believe).
There are some issues between P25 trunking and FPP that are well documented.

Look on the audio control cards for the audio tailoring jumpers and you can use those to make, if I remember correctly, 3, 6, and 9 db adjustments to the audio.
But I must warn you that it will also change the 2175 status tone and it needs to remain untouched after you select your jumper setting.

If it is just analog conventional 800 an inexpensive MTS2000 with the 6" antenna will probably do the job. If you are in a high signal area then the 2" should work just as fine but YMMV depending on the design of the system(s) you are listening to.
