Should be IMBE but be advised, that firmware is OLD. There have been many bug fixes since that version. Ask your friend what the serial number is. I'll wager it is 123abc1234. They may have issues with operation on 477 MHz as the VCO tends to roll off very quickly out of band. The range is 380 - 470 for the UHF low split.

Unless Mother M has SP'ed them.

His mistake was using lab Astro software on an XTS3500. The Astro portable software WILL NOT program a 3500. The 3500 has it's own DOS based software.

The codeplug layout on a 3500 is dirrecert than the 3000.

No, the CPS for the 3k will NOT work with the 5k. You also need a new programming cable as the 5k uses a ribless cable.

Also the 5k has better receive and transmit specs than the 3k (better im rejection, rx sensity, etc).

The model number, host, and dsp do not look correct for an XTS3500 (unless I'm missing something).

Of the 3500's I've seen they've had host and dsp of version 1.20 and 1.21

Also as far as I know you cannot swap codeplugs on a 3500 like you can on the 3000's.

And FPP does not require a special battery, it just needs the proper level of firmware plus the proper flashcode. FPP is not compatible with the trunking option, conventional only.
