I have the 438-470 preamp in my 450-482 S[ectra. Works well except in high RF areas. I can live with the intermod in those areas for the increased sensitivity in the ham band.

I've changed two surface mount resistors on my Astro Spectra and was able to get the DPL and Astro deviation proper in the amateur and commercial bands. YOu need to adjust the resistors for the proper deviation/mod comp in the ham band, then align the radio. All works well.

Seems not many want to work in the RF industry and the talent pool is drying up.

01/82 is corrupted codeplug.

Did you read the radio and save the codeplug before you made any changes? If not can you read a radio with same model and flashcode? Then clone yours.

The "toolproof" error happens on newer firmware radios when someone tries an unauthorized change of the flashcode ...

Sounds like that poor radio has been forced a codeplug (not the original flashcode). It is possible the codeplug dumped into the radio has problems with the host and dsp code in the radio.

Clearing the dots does not clear the log. The first time you connect to the RS232 board above the OMI/TOMI it should spit out the diags.

He can do diag 13 on each TDM to see if a particular board has faild and stayed failed.

If you enable DTMF or MDC signalling do you hear it? This will help narrow down the problem.

The radio would need to support MDC radio inhibit. I do not know if the 750/1250 series supports that.

If the radio does support MDC 1200 radio inhibit then you would need either a MDC1200 Stat Alert console or a Centracom II console with MDC signalling BIM to be able to send the inhibit command ...

Typically the reference oscillator in the radio drifts low as the radio ages.

As the radio gets older the rate at which it drifts will decrease.

Sounds like the zero IF offset problem. Let me guess, PL of around 123 Hz?

There is a way the depot can shift the ZIF. Make a list of the PLs you need to use and they can shift it to an area where you will not hear the problem.

The latest Astro software is 2.0 CPS and 9.05.00 DOS. They are interchangeable, you can write with one and read with the other.

If you order RVN-4182 (Astro portable) or RVN-4184 (Astro portable and mobile) from Motorola it comes with both the DOS and Windows CPS version.

The deviation problem only affects the Astro deviation, analog and signalling are fine out of band.
