It wouldn't be a problem if they didn't change the band limits. 136 to 174 MHz. Or 134 to 178 in the extended plan. As long as the band limits didn't change, there'd be no need for reflashing on account of that issue, at least. Rebanding does have its consequences, though...a whole lot of marginally...

I definitely don't have any interest in LTR. Just Motorola's various formats up to Astro25, and EDACS in its various forms.

The source receiver has a discriminator output and/or a variable audio output. Presume I'm good there.

Most of my monitoring will be on an EDACS system.

I see...so the setupis a more advanced variation on the traditional Motorola school of setting up a trunking system, rather than the EDACS way. That's good. But I'd imagine that there's a lot more data to go through to fully set up an Astro 25 personality than there is for any previous type of trunk...

It's inevitable that radios programmed on trunked systems, with ASK, will eventually start appearing on the surplus market...legitimately.

At that point, there's a really big question mark concerning access to the contents of the radio.

I'm sure you're right, Alex, but if the general feeling is correct, then once a radio is ASKed, then it'll ALWAYS be dependent on an ASK from that point forward as long as there is ANY trunking data in the radio.
