I've seen them on fire rigs and I believe they are made by David Clark but I'm not sure. I'm looking for one that is permanently attached to the radio, has ...

Can I use a majority of the external and internal parts from an older NTN5487(C) Saber converta com to repair an Astro AVA? I know that the logic board and the universal connector can't be used but what about the shell and other parts inside?

Re: LAPD trying to buy new portables....
I doubt it... Knowing those Motorola bastards the new contract will have a stipulation that all the old Astro Sabers be destroyed so they wont flood the market. The article says the backbone is good it's the units in the field they want to replace so I guess they're going to stay UHF not 800 and go ...

Something also important is the flash version in the charger. It should be on the bottom. I think current version is 3.1. I didn't know that you could attach a Sys9000 Astro control head to a XTS AVA. Does the control head operate all functions like zone. volume, mode, etc.

Enough to show I didn't read past the first post... You are entitled to your opinion, but try to make sure it's an informed one. Motorola does NOT just sell these radios to Federal Agencies. They will sell them to whoever is willing to pay for them. Todd The federal Gov't also sells surplus FEDERAL...

One more dumb DeskTrac repeater Question
I have a UHF DeskTrac repeater and presently it's configured to use the internal microphone. I have what I think is the correct desk mic for it but when I plug it it it doesn’t work. Is there a jumper on the front control panel that heeds to be changed or is it something in the RSS?
Thanks
