HT1250 EOL ?
I tried searching but didn't see anything. Does anyone know what the projected end of life is on the HT1250 / CDM series?
Thanks
Thanks
Re: HT1250 EOL ?
It has to be getting pretty close. The platform is aroud 12 or so years old.
Re: HT1250 EOL ?
ht750 and 1550 are discontinued and the cdm mobile series are done at the third quarter of this year... being replaced by the turbo series
Re: HT1250 EOL ?
Sounds like the 1250 is likely coming to an end quickly too. We were just notified that basically immediately Transcrypt has EOL all their voice security stuff. So, we are looking for some ideas for the future. There is no way we can go digital. The money is just not there to upgrade the entire County so I guess we will have to go with Midian or something for voice security. I started wondering if I should look to a radio platform beyond the 1250 so we don't face a similar issue again soon.
Re: HT1250 EOL ?
The advantage about the 750 line is that you can easily repair them... not like the turbo xpr portable series that are plaqued with defects and not easy friendly repairable..

So, what is supposed to be the replacement radios for the now-almost-gone Waris series ? The MT1500/PR1500/XTS1500 ??
Re: HT1250 EOL ?
Try another vendor. It will be cheaper and easier to work with them.

No, TRBO line will be the replacement for Professional Series. It will be interesting to see if anything happens to Radius with Vertex in the product mix nowMT2000 man wrote:So, what is supposed to be the replacement radios for the now-almost-gone Waris series ? The MT1500/PR1500/XTS1500 ??

Wow, seems that they were just released like 4-5 years back. Interesting. So basically all that will be left is the APX line ( with the newer "mid-tier" additions, such as the APX4000, APX6000, etc. ) the TROBO line , and the cheaper Radius radios like the CP200, etc. ? Interesting.
IMO, bring back the good old days of the Jedi's

Re: HT1250 EOL ?
Motorola doesn't want to sell low to mid tier analog radios, they WANT you to buy another vendor.
Kenwood gladly seems to be taking up that slack. Just replaced a customers NON NARROWBAND COMPLIANT CP185's with Kenwood TK-2312's. Much better radio, 2 year warranty, 128 channels versus 16, FULL NARROWBAND compliance (splinters too), FleetSync signaling and built-in inversion encryption. All this for under $300 a piece with 2000mah LiON batteries and chargers.
Not to mention, the programming software (KPG-100) is a breeze to use and runs fine on Windows 7.

Re: HT1250 EOL ?
Well I hope they don't cancel the HT-1250 for at least another few months. I have an order for 1100 radios in. When they do cancel it, and or the CDM-1250 we are done with Motorola. That's when we go ICOM for mobiles and portables, and our base station are going to be Harris. TRBO is crap, the base/repeaters are underrated the analog audio is terrible, and the battery life is even worse than the HT-1250. As far as the APX-4K series, I'll wait and see what problems they have, most Motorola products have to go through a teething period before they become reliable or they get canceled. As far as the HT/CDM platform being old, so what, I havn't seen a better product out there for the last 10 years. All Motorola needs to do is a little re-engineering so they can use current parts, then they could keep that line going for another 10, but since they want to flood the market with TRBO crap they will loose a lot of customers including us.(major commuter RR) The Motorola rep didn't even return my call when I requested quotes for 110 new base stations, so it went to Harris.
As been said go to another vendor, they are less expensive and easier to deal with. Motorola may learn some day you don't piss off your recurring customers as they did the Railroads by dropping the Astro Spectra Clean Cab, and all it's variations. Now they lost that part of the market, and it's not very likely they will ever get it back.

Re: HT1250 EOL ?
Just heard from my Vertex rep yesterday the prices on the DMR Portables are dropping by about $150, and $30 on the mobiles bringing them closer in line with eachother and making them about ~$480 dealer costescomm wrote:No, TRBO line will be the replacement for Professional Series. Re: HT1250 EOL ?
Where did you get the EOL for the CDM-1250 of 3rd quarter 2012? I contacted the Pro group at Motorola and this was their response:
"At this time we do not have a set cancellation date for our HT and CDM VHF/UHF models. Pending unforeseen material supply issues, we do not foresee a cancellation of these products at the earliest, before the end of 2013"

We have a large user of these radios (400+) and I have received a similar commitment from some very senior product people within Motorola.RADIOMAN2002 wrote:Where did you get the EOL for the CDM-1250 of 3rd quarter 2012? I contacted the Pro group at Motorola and this was their response:
