We use an excel file and give everything a control number and engrave that control number on the item.

Using a spreadsheet as a database?! BAD JMR3865! NO BISCUIT!

Use a proper database for that many records - it's not hard, and it will allow you to do things like
* enforce that all IDs are unique
* required fields are filled in
* Proper queries like "what serial #'s are associated with this department"
This is my opinion, not Aeroflex's.

I WILL NOT give you proprietary information. I make too much money to jeopardize my job.

I AM NOT the Service department: You want official info, manuals, service info, parts, calibration, etc., contact Aeroflex directly, please.

It's 15,000 * x number of records. That could be easily handled in a flat file, i.e.: CSV.
Slippery Sal's Saber Shanty! Sorted Simply, stuck in sacks! Standard, SECURENET, and Submersible! Sold in sets of six and seven!

Shameless plug; look at www.radio-database.com . Web based DB and app. Mobile client access; and option for hosted service.
