MCS2000 Model 1 48 to 150 channel mod?

Post by g8tzl2004 »

I have been informed that it is possible to increase the number of channels in an MCS2000 Model 1 (front facing internal speaker type) from 48 to 150 (and maybe 255).

I've searched the internet and can only find a few comments about an "optional" 150 channel mod.

How do you increase the number of channels in an MCS2000 Model 1?

Can you just use a "150 channel" codeplug or do you need to flash the radio with new firmware?

Thanks

I could be wrong, but I think it was a flashcode option.

"Yes....but we'll hit theirs as well. We have reserves....attack"

Yup, it's a flashcode option.. Same as on the MTS2000.. Option H260, 250 mode capability.

If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..

CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.

Does this just involve using LAB RSS to write a new "enhanced" codeplug to the MCS2000?

Can Option H260 be applied to a Model I?

I read that it only applies to Model II and III radios?

There is also flash option H259 150 Mode Capability (Model I Only), which is probably what you were originally looking for..
