M1225 4ch to 20ch?

Post by nh7cy »

I believe I saw an old (2003ish) post on this but it had never been answered.

Is it possible to convert a 4ch M1225 to a 20ch M1225 with the proper software / hardware?

I only ask as I have a good 4ch radio and a 20ch parts radio with a bad board but a good head.

Because you can't access the firmware you can't change to a 20 channel without replacing the uP and possibly adding RAM storage to the main board. I believe the uP with its internal ROM was a mask programmed part for either the 4 channel or 20 channel and they were different.

That sounds correct to me. I think the same issue applies to the P1225. I've never seen a modification to turn a 2CH unit into a 16CH unit.

Figured it wouldn't be that easy. Thanks for the info!
