WPLN4208 not powering up

I just installed a WPLN 4208 into my Expedition. I tied the red and yellow wires together to maintain a constant 12vdc to the unit. I checked for power at the white molex plug and i have 12vds and have a ground. When i insert the XTS5000 into the charger, the charging lights do not turn on. Any ideas? Thank yhou
