Recapping Astro Spectras

Post by Purpleman »

I have seen some good info on the net for recapping Spectras, but not Astro Spectras. Has anybody compiled a list of the bad caps in the Astro Spectra,
and some possible replacements? Or are they the same ones on the standard Spectras?
Thanks,

The caps on the control head, RF board, and PA should be the same as a regular Spectra. The command and vocon boards are different on the A-S.

Best thing to do is take an A-S apart, look for the same aluminum electrolytic surface-mount caps that leak in the regular Spectra, compile a list, check it against the schematics in the service manual, and replace them.

There used to be someone on the board that sold all the caps for recapping the spectra as a kit. Does anyone know who that was and if they are still doing so?

http://www.ai4ji.com/

Click on Projects at the left side, then Spectra Refurbishing

I don't know if he also offers A-S cap kits.
