GM300 Power/display problem

Post by eagle844 »

Hello,

I am experiencing an odd problem. My GM300 does not show the channel display and none of the button make any noise. There is not a beep when turning it on. The back light are lit. The radio seems dead. This happened once before. I put the radio on my self for parts and one day I powered up and it worked.

What would be the cause of this? Is there a way to fix. We looked for bad solder joints, eprom seating and board pins at both places had good connections.

I think the eprom crashed. Is there a "cmos" battery per se in there, like a computer? Seems like the radio cannot pass post?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance,

Mike

No battery. The expanded logic board has an EPROM for the firmware and an EEPROM for the codeplug.
