Good Day all. A friend from work handed me his Ht1250, it will not power up. (Fresh battery) I have not yet opened it to check for properly seated cables. Anything else I should check before telling him it's beyond my scope? He claims it was working one minute then dead (upon next power-up) It gives no idication of power whatsoever.

It's kind of a stretch for a non-trunked radio, but another possibility is that it somehow got inhibited over the air. Did you try to read it with CPS? I honestly doubt that's the case, but might be a quick thing to rule out before you start taking it apart.

I don't have the cps for it, but that is something I didn't think of. It's strictly conventional but I imagine anything is possible. Thank you

I have a known, working ht1250 that I was going to swap-in parts with. Does anyone know where the "memory" is stored? In other words; is the radios "personality" on the main board? Or where the keypad is? Can I swap in a good board and have the radio retain its memory? (I don't have the cps to read, or duplicate it). Thanks in advance.
