Trickle charger OK for NiMh ?

Trickle charger OK for NiMh ?

Anybody have any experience trickle charging NiMh batteries ? I've always used a Smart Charger or Tri Chem charger to charge NiMH per the Motorola compatibility charts but Battery University which has lots of information mentions that a trickle charge is the preferred method of initializing all Nickle based batteries.
