After many years of never needing any other algorithm for my KVL3000+ other than DES-XL/DES-OFB I decided to add AES and ADP to the unit.....that is until I talked to Motorola who basically said "we don't support it anymore". So before I file it away and use my KVL4000 exclusively, does anyone have any suggestions on who or how to get the algo's added?
Thanks
Mike

Hello Stranger....went through something like this with Russell in Raleigh (before he retired)....Unless your 3000 already has the algos I believe you are out of luck if Mother Moto won't provide the upgrade card as Raleigh's 3000 only had ASN (Advanced Securenet) mode with no Astro 25 mode and after striking out with Motorola they had to come up north to my shop where our KVL 3000 has both ASN/P25 modes. I was able to take an ASN Key he had and convert it to Astro 25 mode and help him load that key onto some new APXs. Luckily I believe Raleigh was in the works to buy their own 4000. Even though we have both here I still keep the 3000 around for those rare occasions where it comes in handy.

Yeah, I have a 4000 as well but honestly the 3000+ imho works better and just seems to be a better platform. Now that Moto is talking about their intent to replace the 4000 with the 5000 and go away from the Windows Mobile platform I am sure that we will soon be moving up again.

You know Moto is not gonna be happy until we have as many different KVLs as we do radios on our systems.

That's how they are gonna afford that give away swag at the TopGun Events!
